Adobe 6.0 & 6.5 problems (WinXP, 2000)

I recently purchased a new system to use for gaming and video editing. Just built, I installed Splinter Cell. Everything looked great and worked well. Uninstalled that, then installed a friends recommendation, Postal 2. 10 minutes into the game, my system froze up. Uninstalled that, then installed Adobe 6.0. Worked fine through several editing sessions but then the system starting freezing up and required a hard boot. I reinstalled the O/S, tried a different video card (ATI 7500 AIW), the original is a Ti4800 SE. Then I tried Adobe 6.5. All attempts ended the same. The system freezes. Any recommendations or ideas?
