I have an extra PS2 kickin around that I was thinking about setting up for my son and his buddies. I don't have a problem with them using the backups, but I don't really want them using the swapmagic disk, as they seem to have a habit of leaving disks laying all over the place.

If I put say, a 1.5 gig hardrive in it using the network adapter` could I load up swapmagic from there and then put the game disk in through the fliptop?

If so could someone explain how I would go about doing this, starting with how to install, format and load swapmagic onto the disk. I really don't know where to start, so I'm hoping you guys can help.

You might as well just buy hdloader because I don't think you can does for swap magic on to hdd you still need some way to boot up the drive for it to use swap magic in the hdd.

I dont think you are able to load swap magic and boot from hd however I am unsure about this.
I know for a fact another way around which would require a larger hd and memory card exploid, so all you would need is the hd and use the memory card exploit to save the games onto your hd.
I think the only way to use swap magic is by booting it directly and using a slide card, flip top or solderless modchip.. this is why it is called a boot disk.

those guys pretty much covered your question so If I make a suggestion. Why not get a mod chip for your system? I think it's just the thing you need that way your son can just put in the backup of your games and you won't worry about disc laying around and getting scratched. Also, you don't have to get a fancy high end mod like dms4 or matrix infinity 'cause the lower end mods would do the job for you just fine.

NTSC DNAS threads.

If you already have Swapmagic and Network Adaptor I would suggest just putting a large hard drive in the PS2 200 or 300 gb you can get them for rather cheap when you can find them on sale locally or you may find a deal browsing the net...
Install all the games with your PC using Winhiip and create a MC Exploit that you can install with your swapmagic discs...

You can find all the software you'll need HDLOADER Winhiip etc here

What does the abbreviation MC mean? If I knew your post would make much more sense.
