i was wondering can a soft modded xbox with no mod chip read an iso DVD-R or do i need a modchip so it can read the files..plz help me

No you don't need a modchip to softmod that why its called "soft" mod cause you use software. The only way I know you have to do it is games expolits with splinter cell 1(not platium), 007 AUF, and Mechassult(which seems to me difficult because you need a specific copy with matahing ID. Know if that what you want to does use the search engine for this forum and you'll find the tutorial on how to do it.

i have a soft moded xbox unleashx i just wanna know if it can read DVD-R disks without a modchip

like movies
and iso

Yeah, it'll read backup movies, games and cds, but you have the software to play the movies. I don't remember what I have(not at home) , but if you don't you can FTP it in your applications folder in the E drive and your good to go.
