Does anyone know where or if there is a schematic availible for a v14 ps2 mobo- GH-041-34. I tried to install a modchip, but failed and now the ps2 doesn't power up. The power supply works, but it stops there. I've done a yahoo and google search with absolutely no results. Not only can't I find information on a schematic, but I can't find data sheets any of the parts on the board.

Here is a Duo3 install pic. Board should be close....

What is your version?

Most chips have the same install points.

just depends on the version

You may have damaged the cable. Open up your console and make sure all cables are connected correctly. If they all look ok, there may be a break in the cable itself.

Is the chip still installed. Most problems are due to installer error. I would remove the chip and check for solder splashes or shorts. Also, wires could be touching depending on location.

I would go to www.mod-chip.com and click on the Playstation 2 link on the left of the page.....then click on parts and accessories. They have replacement ICs and cables for sale.

I would suggest contacting an installer like myself to professionally install your chip. It is well worth the install costs. Most charge between 40-50 bucks......

Best Regards,

I stated in the earlier post that I have a V14 ps2. I have uninstalled the chip and have made sure that there are no splashes or shorts. I'm an electronic tech student, so this incident will be used as a learning tool, for I would be faced with similar and much greater tasks than this in the future. I'm sure I will attempt another install in the future and would love any tips that you may have given that you are an expert installer.

So, mod chip is removed and wires unsoldered from the board? Do the light on the PS2 come on at all? Is it possible you overheated a component?

Or, it could be that when you desoldered the chip that you may have taken up too much solder so that there is an open now?

Could be a few different things...hard to say without seeing it first hand.

If your PS2 doesn't work at all, you could send it to me for an evaluation. Or keep trying. Are you able to get access to a microscope or other magnafying device? They help a great deal...specially when your eyes aren't the greatest like mine are.
Evaluation is free, of course.

If you would like me to install the chip, I can do that too.

let me know how you would like to proceed. I'm here to help and hopefully I can.

Best Regards,

Stabby

I just popped a flea size capacitor from my v14 gh-37-01 mainboard, the one for point X on the DMS4 PRO SE chip. I am so pissed off. Anyway, my rage aside, how do I find a replacement capacitor. There are no actual schematics of the PS2 even though someone had to draw one to design a mod chip right? The cap is so small it doesn't have any markings and I can't find a replacement in any of my spare electronics. I'm thinking about using a larger cap from an old Walkman but I'm guessing the tiny PS2 cap is for some digital signal that I shouldn't tamper with. GOD, all I want to do is play some Japanese games and this is what fucking happens. Fuck Sony and fuck their fucking region codes. FUCK.
