I rushed through modding my xbox lol and never backed up. I was wondering. Would it work if someone else backed up their xbox and uploaded it and then i downloaded it on to my action replay?

Ehrmmm ok well whenever i try to go to msdashboard i get error 13 contact support or something. but i can still play games on it and load up the installer thing for splinter cell.
trying to see if i can fix it anyway
itd be nice if i can either just get back my ms dashboard or get soft mod working

Did you use SID? It should be able to repair a failed softmod.
If not, you can just manually install a soft mod using FTP.

Krayzies? Most of those are manual installs as far as I know.
Of course, there's that translated automatic dual boot one, but I don't remember how it works.
I'm actually posting while I'm in a class, so I can't do AIM or anything.
Also, you may want to remove your AIM name, since someone might mark you for posting it...

i transfered the sid files over then loaded SC and worked through there. Im guessing thats manual?

That'll work. You should be able to reinstall the soft mod using that.

You won't be able to make a back up of your original set-up, but you can reinstall the soft mod.

Oh, sorry about that.
Yeah, you can use someone else's back up of the MS dash. Just don't mess with your hard drive lock or try to use someone else's EEPROM, and you'll be fine.
If you have any specific questions about SID, this guide should be able to help you more than I can.

Hmm doesn't work after i try patching ms dash. I get some error message partway through.

You can download the MS dashboard from there. It's an older one (4920), but it'll do the job.
Delete everything on C:/ and transfer the 4920 dashboard to install it. After that, try using SID again. It should be able to patch it this time.

I assume you've downloaded the 4920 dash, correct?
What you need to do is establish an FTP connection between your Xbox and PC using the SC exploit save (Krayzie's in your case).
If you aren't sure how, here's a guide.

Once you can make an FTP connection, get the 4920 dashboard ready. Rather than wiping the C:/ like I suggested last time, just transfer the dashboard to C:/ and have it overwrite everything. At least this way, you won't have to worry about something going wrong mid transfer and not being able to FTP the rest of them.
After all this, you should have a working MS dashboard, and you should be able to finish using SID. You may also want to update your MS dash prior to using SID, as I don't know if the 4920 dash is compatible with it or not.
To update the dashboard, follow this short guide.

Load up the exploit save. It'll set up an FTP connection automatically if you do it right. The IP address should then be listed on the main menu or in the options.

Yup, that's the one. Even if it doesn't do it automatically, SID uses UnleashX as it's base as I recall, and all you'd have to do is go into the network settings and configure them as necessary.

Not necessarily. That only occurs when DHCP is enabled on your router, and is being used by your Xbox at the time.
I just tried running SID so I can help you out with it. Turns out, I can't even use it. Reboots my Xbox and gives me an error 21. Must have something to do with the fact I have an irregular soft mod running.
As far as I know, it should default to DHCP and give you an IP automatically provided the Xbox and PC are connected properly. How are you going to be connecting your Xbox and PC together? Since you say you're using a modem, do you mean that all you have is a broadband modem? As in, one with a single ethernet and a single USB port? You'll need to use either a router or hub if you want to connect that way. A modem won't do you any good. If you don't have a router or hub readily available, you may also want to look into getting a crossover cable.
