o.k...I looke on the forums, n dont see a post about how to lock the HD w/o a modchip....how do i do it? i got no dashboards others den da original MS one(i cant acess it anyways)....i kan hotswap the hd's n add/delete stuff, but at the end of da day, it remains locked

1st up (and please dont take this as an offensive against you) how old are you? only teens use bad english (sorry to the ones that cant speak good english, I dont mean you) or is it you dont speak english well?
please try to use the proper english words so we dont spend ages trying to decypher your postings, sorry if it sounds like I'm having a go but I'm not, just trying to maximize the help given to you and others :)
now your post,
There are loads of postings here on how to lock a drive (if its lockable) I followed one from here and I have upgraded more than one drive with the same process,
you should also look for softmod installers (try google) and they come with replacement dash's,
i recomend using xboxhdm for the drive update and not hotswapping,
also try getting AID 3.5 from the usual places (#xbins)
any problems google for the answers as i do most times, but nine out of ten times the answers here

O.k, IF i send a softmod to the xbox, i STILL cant access anything. It STILL goes to the 05 error. I looked for programs to lock it....not much luck there. Ill be willing to pay som1 to help me

I have xboxhdm_v1.9 but my bro got my old comp (with the cd writer). Is there some other way to lock the drive without burning a cd? I tried the HDlock but my computer automatically boots the floppy drive as "XP booster" and i dont kno how to get it to boot back to the normal command prompt

oh yea and its a stock xbox HD, Seagate st310014a. So thats lockable. I am able to get my HD password, but because of my floppy drive problem, i dont have much use of it

Xboxhdm is the tool needed to "restore" your drive to normal
it does more too,
it mainly makes burnable dvd/cd's to remake the drive though

btw
reemember, you only need to lock a hardd rive if you use xbox live
no other reason to.
If you just use your xbox offline, leave it unlocked (safer too in case your xbox blows up- drive will still work in a PC etc)

You're honestly kind of in between a rock and a hard place there. There's always the option to make the disc on a friend's pc; but the big question here is:
---Did you remember to backup the eeprom, so that you can restore it?---
Hopefully you did, but really, you can't do much either way, without having a burner... It's kind of a lose-lose situation you're in. Very unusual.

You can't lock it without the EEPROM. Without that, you might as well get a chip since that Xbox motherboard is useless when you don't know what EEPROM is stored on it for the hard drive.

XBOXHDM has a tutorial here somewhere, go look for it then read it at least 3 times so you DO understand it and go play ^_^ need any more help then come n let us know ^_^ (let us know either way ^_^)

That's nice, but you won't be able to boot AID on your Xbox unless it's successfully modded in some way, which yours isn't...
I hope he's sending xboxhdm with it as well...
