gus738, what I'm saying is wanting to believe such info isn't available to marketers doesn't make it so, and that Slysoft stands out like a sore thumb because of the business they're engaged in. I don't dislike Slysoft - I think they're friggin heroes for helping consumers from being ass-raped by the entertainment industry. And if I had kids who were constantly trashing my DVDs, I might even consider backing up my collection (though frankly my collection isn't big enough justify the purchase of AD).

But, that said, if Slysoft was more considerate of their customers, they'd provide less-intrusive payment options, or at least provide recommendations to help their customers protect their privacy e.g. recommending the use of disposable credit cards.

-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.

I have to LOL to this. I have AnyDVD (full updated version) and it is not working burning Inside Man. I am ready to scream. I tried DVDFabDecrypter and Vob Blanker with Shrink and none of them work. I am trying CloneDVD2 and AnyDVD before I decide to throw this disc out the window.

I did Inside Man with DVDdecrypter, AnyDVD, and Recode. It's a snap.

Did you ever stop to think, and forget to start again?

hello,
I have been using the original DVD X Copy (Platinum upgrade) since 2002 with great success, until...Walt D's 8 Below. I tired everything listed on the forums and nothing worked until I used AnyDVD. Somehow I got DVD xCopy to work in the simple mode (main movie only) with AnyDVD running in the backround and I was able to backup my movie. BTW, none of the other programs (including upgraded Nero) would backup even with AnyDVD running.
Now my problem, DVD X Copy is not working again, and I NEED to back up my new movies. I am going to purchase AnyDVD and thinking of trying CloneDVD2- any suggestions graciously accepted.
I want a program that will copy the main movie only with the same high quality I got with DVD X Copy...I could not figure out shrink...newbie here!!!
Thanks so much,
Samantha

Well Samj99,
As a former Xcopy user(Till AnyDVD & CloneDVD)I can tell you that CloneDVD 2 will do main movie only with even better results than Xcopy. There is a guide here in the guides section for CloneDVD 2. It's an amazing software! Be sure you have AnyDVD running before you insert your movie. Use the copy dvd titles mode. you want to get the "quality meter" as close to 100% as you can.
CloneDVD 2 is very easy to learn & use. I won't use anything else.
If you have any issues with using these, it will be wise to completely uniinstall Xcopy.
There are known conflicts with AnyDVD & Xcopy.
Try CloneDVD 2, I am sure you'll Love it Samantha!
The quality is the best I have seen, I think in a lot of cases it is better than the original! Be sure & use high quality media! An burn at 1/2 the media rated speed or 4x for best results.

Thank you so much,
I have been afraid to uninstall DVD X Copy, but it sounds like AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 may be better!
DVD X Copy was so easy to use and all these other "freeware" programs had me so frustrated.....
Thanks again!

Samantha,
Trust me, AnyDVD & CloneDVD 2 combo will most definitely prove themselves to be way better than Xcopy. They stay updated, produce Very High Quality results, are asy to use, and have a small resource usage on your system. I'll tell you this: Since I have started using these 2,
I never use anything else. Not only that, I have yet to see any movie I can not back up. Not 1.

forgot to ask....with DVD X Copy I do NOT save to my hard drive, I just record the main movie from my DVD(E:)drive to my DVD+R (F:)drive

Will CloneDVD2 allow me to do this, or will I have to save it to a file first? Reading the guide it seems I have to save it to my hard drive and then bring it up to backup.
Thanks,
Sam

DVDXcopy saves your file temporarily to you HDD and then it deletes it upon exit. CloneDVD will do the same thing if you choose that option, it will also save it to your HDD if you want to burn it later.

I honestly don't see why people won't get AnyDVD. It will be the best money you have ever spent Guarnteed! I am able to backup just about any movie with it. And, I don't need all these other tools like Fix VTS,Vob Blanker, etc. Isn't life hard enough already?

AnyDvd (latest version) in backround. DVD Shrink to rip and shrink it. ImgBurn to burn. What could be easier?

Because all of the smart/advanced users favored RipIt4Me (DVD Decrypter + FixVTS), DVDFAB Decrypter and VobBlanker. Why? Because they're all FREE and works flawlessly.

Any (advanced user) true movie backup person would "never" care of how fast he/she can backup the movie, but rather care for longevity, quality and the perfection of his/her backup in the end results, meaning no playback issues (i.e. skipping, missing chapters/scenes, etc.)

Either I use DVDFAB Decrypter + VobBlanker or RipIt4Me, I've "never ever" experienced any issues and or encountered any movies/dvds that I can not rip whatsoever.

Just my 2 cents, but to each own.

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.

thanks.
I really like AnyDVD and I AM going to purchase after my trial period ends. Today I finally was able to back up my Disney 8 Below movie. I always backup first, then watch my movies.
Anyway, today I used AnyDVD with CloneDVD and it turned out great. It did take 1-1/2 hours compared to 45 minutes with DVD X Copy, but I think it makes a better copy!
I have Shrink -my uncle also suggested Shrink-, but it seems so complicated to use. I will try it again though and see if I can backup GroundHog Day with the 2 and this time only the main movie. I can not seem to figure out how to do the main movie only.....any help is greatly appreciated.

@Samj99,
That is a lot longer than it should take to back-up 8 below. Actually that is about twice as long as it should have taken. I suggest you read the guide for CloneDVD. You want to select copy dvd titles, then look at what is there. Usually title 1 is the main movie. De-select DTS sound. Only select AC3/6 &AC3/2 in the appropriate language. Also select your burn speed , otherwise the default is Maximum. Select output method as your DVD Burner. I have not seen any movie take that long, even King Kong which is 3+hrs long. Note: Your goal is get that quality meter to 100% or close.
Here's a user guide to help.

@Samj99,
Really to do main movie only, the only things you need have "checked" are the main title, and AC/3, AC/6 sound EN. Do not select DTS if it's there due to it uses a lot of disc space. Select you output method as the dvd writer, select the speed as 1/2 your media's rated speed (for your burner) or 4X whichever is fastest
Example, I use Verbatim 16x DVD+R, I select 8x as my speed and get superb results. For most movies you should have a completed back-up in 30 mins or less. I big on like King Kong (3 hrs) may take 45-50 minutes.

hi sam well like others mentioned x copy did temp save to hd as no dvd can go on the fly like cds.... i was too a x copy owener and i'v noticed that it took longer on x copy to do entire process as where clonedvd2 it did not .

and yes 8 bellow shouldnt take you that much most of my DVD9 dvds take 23 mins at most based on the estimate on clonedvd2 ( but i feel its less time ) and this is considering i do everyitng conpressed from a DVD9 to a DVD5 with menu's and all featurs....

honestly i cant notice a reduced quality with a conpressed dvd with menus on my 38'' widescreen HDTV 1080i....

so you should try to do on clonedvd2 the 2nd option preserving menus .. you might like results...

yes these softeares are the best money can buy , together from slysoft i think you get discount as those 2 bundled for 59 dollars

....

as far as the movies talking a long time maybe its your settings... go to start > right click my computer > properties then hit the HARDWARE tab then DEVICE MANAGER... from here look for ide ata/atapi controlers double click on it check your primary ide channel / secodary if apliable ..advance tab , and make sure that your settings are set to ULTRA DMA 2 NOT pio....

pio will set the cpu usage ALOT more then ultra dma2 ... end result slower copys of dvds....

i think theirs a guide on ad somewhere here..
