normally, when i use dvdlabs, i use the vobs directly because when dvdlabs breaks them down and uses the mpvs instead, new problems seem to come up. i want to use a subtitle on the dvd i'm working on now so, naturally, dvdlabs has to break down the vobs. now, the resulting dvd skips in ff/rev (moreso in ff). how do i prevent/fix this prob. thx, maxwell

i just reread my post (seem to be the only one) and noticed there should be a change and more info. i'm using dvdlabpro ver 153 not dvdlab. if anyone ever wants to reply to this post and help me out, you should also know that the fast-forward skipping happens out of hd folder as well as on disk in dvd burner and my set top dvd player. system-wise, i have an athlon 64 3000+ and 1024 mbs ddr-400 and am running xp w/sp2, you know, just in case anyone wants to help me out. thx, maxwell

No idea why ff/rev doesn't work correctly.

What problems were you getting when you were encoding using mpv and mpa?

As long as you were encoding to mpv and mpa separately, the remuxing shouldn't be a problem. (At least it's not for me.)

However, whenever any program has to Demux and remux, problems are bound to show up.

actually they were avi's converted to dvd then loaded as vobs into dvdlabpro. everything worked fine til i decided to add the french subtitle i found on line (i wrote subtitles once ; i'm way too much of a perfectionist - it took me a week to do the subs for frankenhooker [app 1 hr 10 min not including credits] - setting delays is about as close to editing as i plan to get). after the Demux, the chapters were trashed as well as ff. unfortunately, i didn't notice the ff skipping til after i redid all the chapters and since i'm chapter-happy and do them manually, it was a lot of wasted work ;0) anyway, i did fix the ff skipping by upgrading to dlp2 and compiling the project. unfortunately, now all the chapters are off again. one thing i did figure out - at one point, i opened one of the compiled dvd's with pgcedit and exported the chapters as frames (as opposed to dealing with hh:mm:ss:ff). the math is a helluva lot easier. i'm learning as i go. thx for your reply.
