alright i have this cd that came with my computer when i bought it. this is what it: reinstalltion cd microsoft windows xp home edition including service pack 2. i put it in and it give me a menu and i choose install windows. then it gives me an option to upgrade or new install so i choose new install. it gives me a list of the drives that are on the computer and asks me which one i want to install it on. if i choose the drive that has the windows on it now, it says that it will just be making 2 OS on one drive which isnt good. so i try to delete the drive so i can make a new one, but it wont let me delete it. how do i make it so that there is nothig left and i can just reinstall windows?

you need to reformat your HD you will need the program from the manufacter of your hard drive to do this

open up computer and you will see on HD who the manuf is or contact the maker of your computer and give them the model # of computer

The formatting program does not have to be from your HD's manufacture, it can be and formatting program. There are alot out there, just search Google for "hard drive format software".

Assuming the bios is set to boot from the cd drive it will boot from the installation disc.
If the disc is the original windows xp home cd then you should be able to do it all from there. Assuming you have one hard drive with one partion and you just want a fresh installation then choose to install a fresh version. During set up there is a screen about partitioning. Delete the partion on the hard drive thats is in use then re-create a new single partion by following the on screen directions. Windows will continue and format the hard disc and then install itself on the new partion. Take a look here http://www.windowsxphome.windowsreinstal...dexfullpage.htm
