Toshiba Laptop Freezes

I have a Toshiba Laptop and it used to work fine, then it kept shuting down from overheating, took it to CompUSA where they relaced the fans and did some other things. Got it back and it doesnt shut down but now when I plug my IPOD into any of the usb ports the computer freezes up. Ive tried my IPOD on another computer and it worked fine. Ive updated ITunes and the software on my IPOD. Anybody have any suggestions that will work?

A few things come to mind in regards to this,
1. Have you done a scan for viruses or spyware things like that??
2. Have you defraged the lappy recently?? if not try it.
3. Get your recovery disc and boot off again from that. (it may have not installed correctly)

well....i would try to reformat the ipod just in case the mp3 files have some viruses in it...if not... yeah, jes do what borhan9 says.

I have found out that the only thing that works in my USB ports is my mouse, everything else causes the laptop to freeze (printer, ipod, and thumb drive). Anybody have any suggestions?

It might be that there is something wrong with your usb driver that is installed on your computer. Also check for spyware and virues cause your never know that might be the cause of your faulty usb.

Ive check for spyware and viruses but no success. Only thing that doesnt work is the IPod and it works fine when I plug it into a different computer. I have tried to restore the IPod on another computer and worked but still freezes when i use my toshiba laptop Anybody know how to fix this and what is wrong?

If the usb port is faulty try uninstalling it and then restart the pc and see if that fixes the problem :)

everything else works in the usb drives (printers, mouses, thumb drives) they work in all of them but when i plug the ipod in it doesnt work

try getting another usb connection for you ipod and see if that makes a difference, maybe your usb wire is faulty.

do you have more than 1 USB port? try the one at the back of the laptop. Sounds like the USB port (there are actually 2 types) you are plugging the iPod into is not capable of supplying as much power as the iPod want. You could get a USB hub that has a power supply if you have no other USB port on board that can supply enough current.

ive tried all three usb hubs but none work with the IPod and before i took it to compusa the usbs worked with the IPod. its not a faulty wire because it works on other computers with the same wire.

Then try uninstalling the USB root hubs, and then restart, the system should pick up the hubs again and reinstall drivers.
