Hi
I was wondering if the new X360 USB with V2 Team Xecuter Connectivity Kit would be a good way of , hacking the firmware of my 360.

i have an hitachi drive.

Wost importantly, I was wondering if it would be easy to hack the firmware, to play back ups, then reinstall the origional dvd firmware to play on xbl?
is this practical and resonably quick?

cheers for reading

You dont have to bother putting the original firmware back on to play on XBL as there is no way for MS to detect it as of now. Bit the Hitachi drive is supposable harder to hack then the Samsung.

i highly advise u to get the xecuter connectivity kit. i bought it for the hitachi drive i had and it works like charm

the flashing is extremely easy in fact easier than the samsung drive if u have the connectivity kit.

all u do is connect the hitachi drive via ur connectivity kit to ur pc and turn it on. once its on it will display in my computer.

click start:

run

type in

cmos

than type in flash.bat (download the latest hitachi flasher its called xtreme.bat or flash.bat)

in fact type in

flash.bat e (where E is the drive letter)

and press enter

it should flash it and make backups of the firmware

or use the birdy flasher if u have a 46D drive.

but the latest hitachi firmware flasher supports all drives including 46d and 47d

if u need more help feel free to ask me.

for the firmware hack files look on www.psp-hacks.com

cheers for the tips,

in the end i'm gonna try using a plain sata to usb cable, and use the slax cd in a linux environment, so hopefully this will get it in to mode b

one more thing though is the fixed version of the birdy flasher safe, as i have not got a 111d, but really want to at least see that back ups will work.

if not i will use opa 7 in 1 and get a 111d

also dies anyone know when the new OPA release will be out

thanks a lot

Hi guys great forums and very informative so thought i would help out.

360man i received my x360usb with connectivity kit v2 this morning and easily flashed my drive. heres some info for you as no instructions where included as you stated and very little info is about.

First of all get the OPA-XTREME-HITACHI-7IN1-V2_1 firmware and unzip the rar files on to your pc. then copy the folder inside called X-LG to the root of your C drive and rename to LG.

Next get your usb360 and connectivity kit ready and shut down your pc.

plug the usb360 into a spare usb slot and connect the sata cable to your hitachi drive. plug a spare molex connector into your connectivity kit and then the little power cable supplied into your hitachi drive. make sure the switch on the kit is set to the off position. then turn your pc back on.

windows will now find the usb360 and say that hardware is installed and ready to use. when this is done turn the switch to on on your connectivity kit and you should have some nice blue led's light up on the kit. at this point my drive was not recognised in windows so press the mode swith and the leds should go red. Again my drive was still not found so i then turned the switch back to the off position so the leds went out. turned the switch back on and the lights where still red which means your drive is in mode B at this point i got a message at bottom right saying new hardware found and showed the hitachi drive name and then that hardware was installed and ready to use. when this has happened open my computer and check what drive letter has been assigned to the new drive in my case it was H.

Now go to START, PROGRAMS, ACCESSORIES, and select Command prompt.

A black box will open and should show something similar to
c:\documents and settings\ blah blah>

Now type in cd.. and press enter do this again until just C:\> is visible. now type CD LG and press enter this will take you into the folder that the firmware is in and should show C:\LG> if you want to make sure type DIR and will list the files that are in the folder you should see FLASH21.BAT in there, if so your in the right folder.

Now type the following - FLASH21.BAT H 1234

(THE H SHOWN HERE IS THE DRIVE LETTER THAT WINDOWS ASSIGNED TO YOUR HITACHI DRIVE IF YOURS IS NOT H THEN REPLACE IT WITH WHATEVER LETTER WINDOWS ASSIGNED TO IT)

The last 4 numbers can be any combination you want. it will now back up your drive key and firmware before it starts flashing the drive. when it has finished it will say done 100% you may now shutdown the system.

Now go into the LG folder on your C drive and you should have a folder there called X21-xxxx.OPA (xxxx will be whatever 4 numbers you used) copy this and paste to at least 2 other different folders to make sure it is safe as this contains your original firmware e.t.c

Now turn off the 360 connectivity kit and shut down your pc and disconnect the drive from the x360usb sata and disconnect the connectivity kit from the pc molex connector and the hitachi drive.

There you have 1 flashed drive. reconnect back to your 360 pop in the backup and away you go.

Ive tried to make this as simple as i can. any questions just pm me and ill get back to you

Happy flashing

good info xboxmern but i have a couple of questions if you dont mind me quizzing you mate

1. i take it we are only using the smaller of the two bits of the connectivity boards to flash the drive

2. i have noticed on both the connectivity boards that there is a little switch in a silver box a tiny switch on both boards what are these for and what side do they need to be at do they need to be at the little silver solder part or the to the right were there are two little solder parts

i hope you understand the questions mate as its the best i can describe the little switches

hi 360man

yes we are using the smaller of the 2 peices. the bigger peice is for connecting the 360 harddrive which i havent done yet.

The switch you are talking about does not act like a switch as it cant be moved and i havent got a clue what it is. i didnt touch it at all and is how it was when i received it (set by the 2 solder points away from the team xecuter writing)

any more probs give me a shout

si

Hi xboxmern

Can I ask how you handled the conectivity kit when the power is on,
I see you have to flick the on off and the mode button while powered on..

The PCB seems to have an insulating layer on the base so I guess its safe to sit on the bench while powered on but Ive no electronics training only my common sence to guid me with electricity..

Did you earth yourself or anything?

Thanks again

Hi tag2006

I always touch the metal case of my pc tower to discharge any static before touching anything connected to my pc and I've never had any probs.

The connectivity kit v2 is insulated on the back so you shouldn't have any problems just touch the metal on your pc tower to discharge any static.

The connectivity kit v1 though was open on the back and would have to be placed on a none metallic surface. I never used that kit so couldnt comment on it.

Hope that helps

Thanks m8,
So if i take the same precautions I do when putting a pc together for anti static etc then I should be ok huh?

I also read that you dont need the crocodile clips when using the connection kit is that correct?

I will be doing my sons drive later on when he finished college so fingers crossed.

I hope someone can tell us what the un identified silver switches are on the new kits they nust have a function eh?

Cheers M8

hi tag2006

yes mate take same precautions as when putting a pc together

You dont need the crocodile clips when using the connectivity kit just take the drive out of the 360 completely and your good to go. you only needed the crocodile clips and ground wire if you had to use the 360 to power the drive but the connectivity kit does that for you.

as for the little silver switch its one of those great mysteries that only team xecuter know about.

good luck with the flash and let me know the outcome

by the way ive posted the above tutorial on a thread of its own if you want to use that for replys etc
