Forget about the torrent comment. I had a brain fart this morning. If it's 12.6 mb then it's rar'ed. Is the extention .rar of what you downloaded? You need to use WinRAR to open it.

I believe if you're getting a sata card then your mtkflash will have to be edited to work with it. That's not a big deal, though.
And ya, everything will go on 1 disc.
You should have a 0800.iso if you dl'ed the latest firmware. It's xtreme 3.3. You won't fit that on a floppy. The 0800 is used to get your 360 drive seen in windows and has to be burnt on to a DVD+R DL, just like a game. This disc is only necessary when you want to create your own backup from an original (instead of downloading one).

are you kidding me? so if i want to back up a original game(which i planned on)i have to flash my drive with the xtreme fw,then flash it with the 0800. iso., backup up my game then reflash the extreme fw? and thats everytime i want to backup a game.i hope i'm misunderstanding.if not i take it downloading is alot easier?

well i guess its back to reading.i didn't bother reading the bottom of the tutorial.i thought you make a backup with clone and just pop it in.no way i'm going to keep opening my 360.i think the exectioner connectivity kit is just for hitachi.

Well, you don't have to reflash the firmware each time. But you do have to hook the 360 drive up to your pc each time. Then you run the disc in the 360 drive to get it in 800 mode so windows can read the drive.
Which firmware did you get and which tutorial are you using?

That guide is out dated in a few spots. I believe it was written for the original xtreme firmware.
All you'll need on the floppy is the edited mtkflash.exe so you can get your original 360 drive firmware.
When you first backup your original firmware, you'll need to type " mtkflash r /m orig.bin " (not " mtkflash r backup.bin " like it says in that guide).
And you don't have to do the hex editing with the 3.3 firmware. You'll just copy your orig.bin from the floppy to the folder of the unrared firmware. Then double click the "Make X33.bin".
This will automatically make the edited " X33.bin " (not "xtreme.bin" like it says in that guide) which is what you'll need to flash back to your 360 drive. So when you reflash you'll type " mtkflash w /m x33.bin " (not " mtkflash w xtreme.bin " like it says in the guide).
And most important... make sure you save your orig.bin somewhere. Don't delete it.
