Hi...this is my first post here...

So far I've been able to figure out how to do everything I need to do (so far) EXCEPT converting ISOs so they will play on a standalone DVD player. I've searched the net, and searched here as well, and so far haven't seen this addressed. (although I must just be missing it). I have Nero 7.5 and understand how to make DVDs from VOB files that will play on my standalone, how to convert avis, mpegs, etc., as well, but so far ISOs will only play on my computer. (I see many conversion solutions talking about going the OTHER way...from vobs to ISO). Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

TNF ,
Welcome to the forum. Look under Copy and backup in the main screen of Nero> Burn Image to disk. Now click on that and you should be able to burn it to DVD. If that .iso is DVD compliant it should play in the DVD Player. If this is not what you need post back

Thanks for ther response, but I'm not sure if I explained myself clearly. I have no problem whatsoever making a DVD from ISOs using Nero. The DVD will play just fine on my computer, and usually includes chapters, extra features, etc. However, no matter what I do I can't get those to play on my DVD player, which is nearly new and seems to play most everything, including jpegs etc. Is the issue possibly a standalone DVD features thing, or possibly a standalone DVD compliant ISO thing? I was hoping there was a way to convert ISOs to VOBs. Should ISOs alone be able to be played on most standalone DVD players? If so, I've had no luck so far (haven't tested in other, older DVD players at this point)

Thanks very, very much for any feedback!

p.s. I don't see "Copy and backup in the main screen of Nero> Burn Image to disk" in any Nero screen. Also, how do you edit a post here? I see no box allowing edits. Thanks!

It now sounds like a compatibility issue w/ the blank media you are using as the DVD Player does not like it.

Did you create the iso or is from somewhere else.

Is the version of Nero you have Nero 7 Ultra. I use Nero 6 as 7 is still a little buggy to me. When I open Nero the main menu comes up and there are a set of Icons and under Copy and Backup is that feature

Edit: After you post on the upper right is a box. Click on that and that is the edit feature

I've figured out what's going on. Apparently it's a size issue. I burned a 350 mb ISO image to a disc and it works fine on the standalone. I guess the limit is 2 GB. Now I need to know how I can get around that issue if the ISO is 4 GB. I've seen DVDshrink mentioned. Might try that, but hoping there's another solution. Thanks again for the reply.

Using Verbatim 16x DVD-R. I really don't think it's a media thing, but I could be wrong. I have several other brands of DVDs sitting around. Is anyone capable of burning an ISO image larger than 2 GB and having it work in a standalone DVD? It's my understanding that's an official limit, rather than a media or hardware issue. I can burn a 7 GB ISO on a double-layer DVD and it works fine on my computer. I can burn a 4.5 GB ISO on a standard DVD and it works fine on my computer. Neither work on the standalone DVD, but the small 300 mb ISO worked just fine. Again...thanks for responses...

hey TNF if you want, you can download WinRAR and use it to extract the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders from the .iso file and then burn the folders in Nero.

The WinRAR solution worked! Thank you! Initially I was unable to make it work, despite seeming as though it should, so I had to download a newer version of WinRAR (my old demo version didn't work...got repeated error messages), and when setting up, checked associate ISOs (which is by default unchecked). Thanks again! So far I've only gotten it to work once, but I'm optimistic I'm set on this now.
