A question fo ya

What Type(brand) of media r u using?

To check ur firmware if u have DVD Decrypter u can go to TOOLS/Drive then select Check for firmware update
Or
if u have Nero u can use the NeroInfoTool, it should be under the Tools category.

And what program are u using to burn?

Sometimes due to all the varying factors 300 bowler listed, you have to experiment to see what speed is best for you and your burner/media.
If using good media, with up2date firmware, most modern systems should be able to handle a 2x-8x burn range without getting a failure. The quality will be different on each burn, but you can find which one yours likes best. One of my burners consistantly gives better Nero quality scores when burning at 8x than when burning at 4x. I have a Plextor 18x burner coming in the mail this next week, so i will be checking it out with the different speeds, just to see for myself if burning faster than 8x is worth it.
If you used Nero, you could post a log, and we can look at it to see if you have any conflicts going on.
Nero 6 history log location: Program Files>Ahead>Nero>NeroHistory.txt

Nero 7 history log location: Program Files>Nero>Nero 7>Core>NeroHistory.txt

These things record all burns, and we only need the last one. The burns are seperated by something like this:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
====== *** NeroAPI, History File *** ======

Windows XP 5.1
IA32-xxxx-xxxx-
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

that was from a Nero 6 log, but 7 looks much like that. Underneath the divider is the operating system, and right below that is the begining of the serial number. When posting a log, just include the last burn log, and please be sure to edit out your serial numbers by typing xxxx over them, or deleting them before posting to the forum.
