i have only been able to change from 16x to 8x once... it stayed set like that till i rebooted computer... i am using the same "memosux" media as i was then, so it is capable of it..
however, when i go to burn settings i only have 16x and maximum as my choices... i want 8x because i have no problems when burning at 8x...
how do i change this setting????
also, i decrypted a dvd to my media drive, how do i open that dvd with shrink? when i choose open files option i cannot open the video_ts file...
can someone tell me EXACTLY what to do to solve both of these issues? the first (8x) burning issue is more important, the 2nd issue is just that on a fluke i was able to burn a dvd off my HD and that is the only time i was ever able to change my burning speed option.
If the media is not in the drive before you open up shrink, you can get weird low or high numbers. So thats the main possibility.
It also has to do with media and firmware. Your drive has varying abilities to recognize/write different media. Memosux usually uses bad media, but ive seen varying speeds on good media also.
If you check out my blog, it shows the screenshots of with and without media inserted burn speeds.

it helps if you tell us EXACTLY what error you got... LOL Sometimes it is a matter of copy protection preventing you from opening the file.
If you use a program like ripit4me, it works every time, and its free, uses free programs to do the job.
http://www.ripit4me.org/ oh yeah, depends on the file, and how you extracted it. If you decrypted to ISO file, then the open file function wont work.
