My PS2 is scratching my discs

I have a V14 with a DMS4 Pro SE installed and been having some probems loading some backups that I've burned. I've got a working library of 60+ games with about 4 or so that stall on FMV sequences.

Tried watching some movies the other day and found that the PS2 is etching my discs with a circular line less than a cm from the edge of the disc. It's happened to 2 of my DVD movies already and one of my games. I can't really see what part is rubbing but I wonder if anyone has any idea how I could go about fixing this.

Was thinking of opening it up and checking the tension on the screws holding in the drive. Any other ideas?

Yes, this also happen to our disc too. Scratched by the ps2 in the same manner. I pretty much said screw it though and just went out and bought another player. We got our use out of the other and for 180 bucks its less bother w/ a brand new one.

Did you put a chip in it? Actually I fixed the problema few days ago.
If you had yours modded it's probably that they didn't set the drive back in properly or damaged it. In my case it was too much tension on the ribbon cable. I just lifted it up and reset it to where it should have been and no more scratchs, problems, or lockups...now I need to find the time to actually play!
