Someone please help me.
I had a guy at the local computer store (here after known as Village Idiot). He upgraded the hard drive and softmoded with Splinter Cell (N-Knave 4). I have all the menus but nothing under Emulators, Aplications, or MS Dashboard, and I cannot play DVD's. If I reload the MS Backup I can play a DVD but if I go back in and install the softmod it will not play them. I used a friends xbox and I believe he had a program under Applications that he used to play the DVD's. But when Village Idiot loaded my software I dont think I got everything he gave the last guy.
If I connect my xbox to the internet is there somewhere I can download the Applications that I need?
Or is there a way to get the DVD to play after the softmod?
Thanks in advance for the help, it is very appreciated.

Or is there a way to play the games I have copied to the hard drive from the original xbox console? When I reload the MS Backup it goes back to the original console screen.
Thanks Again

Try xbins.
You'll want to get XBMC to play those DVDs. Pretty much any emulator you want will be on there as well.
If you don't want to bother with xbins (requires a FTP client and mIRC to access it), then you could try torrents as well.
mininova.org would be a good torent site to try. If you can't find what you're looking for on there, use the search engine on isoHunt.
Oh, and you have to use a hacked dash to launch the games on your hard drive. The MS dash can't do it.

I used to FTP quite a bit but it has been a long long time and have never been much for mIRC. I found the XBMC files on mininova but there are a lot of different versions. There is a Franks AutoInstaller and I have no idea which one I need. It looks like from the description that a lot of them are not for newbies (like me).
Can someone also give me a quick rundown on what a torrent is and what to do with it? I will try searching the forum while I wait but have not had much luck with that yet.
Thanks

Thanks to both of you, I am headed out now to get a crossover cable.
I have softmoded for a dual boot, when I try to boot from the eject button and go to the MS Dash it says missing file C:\msdash.xbe. It does the same thing booting from the power button.
Anyone know where I can get a copy of this file to put back on my xbox?
Thank you
