Ok. Have totally screwed xbox. I've downloaded 732mb AID 3.0 but cant work out what to do, when i try to burn it using dvd decryptor it says error/failed because unable to lock volume for exclusive access-access denied. What the hell is goin on, what shouldve been a quick simple task has turned into 2 weeks of pain. AARRGHHH! I have posted up other dramas recently and still need a hand. I softmodded my xbox using SID splinter cell hack now i have no access to my xbox at all (the famed error 21). Cant FTP and wont load any games or dvd's. Have searched for a tut on hotswapping but somone of my knowledge, (which is limited) needs a step by step guide as i have never opened up a PC and dont want to ruin it but am keen to learn how to. Any suggestions before my xbox gets thrown in the fire?

So, I assume you've read the hot swap guide that TheReturn wrote, correct?
It should be pretty straight forward if you follow his guide.

is it imperative to use shademands softmod or can i use something else? Also would you be able to give me advice on my AID questions early in the thread? Thanks alot mate

Nah, you could replace that with pretty much any soft mod installer you choose. Just use a newer one to prevent any serious issues.
As for AID, it comes with tons of stuff. Mod chip BIOS files, Softmod Installer Deluxe (SID), and a bunch of tutorials in pdf format. You should be able to just burn the iso file that it come with. I have no idea how you're getting that error though.

You could try asking theridges. I've never come across that error while using DVD Decrypter.
Also, try using ImgBurn. It's a bit more straightforward than DVD Decrypter when it comes to burning image files.
