My first attempt at 'patching' failed!

I have burned many games with 100% success, so I know my Firmware, Burner and choice of media is OK.

But up until now, I have either been doing disk copies, or burning pre-patched stuff.

I decided to have a go at an Image that I got well before any of the hacks even came out.. I didn't think it would work, but after reading the tutorial, I thought it was worth a try.

So, I took the image, downloaded the correct SS/Bin file and loaded it into SS Merger (1.7b).. To my surprise, both boxes went green, so I left all settings at default, hit the merge button and it created the DVD file.

I loaded this into CloneCD and it burned.

But when I try and play it, it stays on the screen with the big Xbox logo!

Did I do anything wrong? Is it worth having another go?

Any tips would be appreciated

Most of out there the stuff that's not pre-patched doesn't work. You can't get that detail in releases here, but that's the situation. A quick is did you notice in comments in the comment in the comment section is SS merger? No comments or bad comments usually equal a bad release.

I downloaded a 2nd game which also needed patching, so I took another look at SS Merger.

I realised that I could select a 'game' from the list which had 'comments'. I then noticed that by selecting different games, would change some of the settings.

So, I had another go and the first game I had worked.

Because I managed to get the first game working, I decided to spend a bit of time on the 2nd.. But after 4 coasters, I am giving up :(

Weirdly, the one which worked is a REALLY early release, where as the one I can't get working, is much newer.

Everything seems to be set correctly.. The MD5 checksums match and the boxes are 'Green' (And several comments say that it works), but I can't make it happen, so I am giving up!
