I have softmodded my xbox using sid 4 and everything went great. I purchased a new harddrive western digital 160 gig that is lockable. went throught the process of ftping all c drive, eeprom file and e drive. Then used Nero to make a bootable dvd. on pc i booted dvd and went through the process of installing a new hard drive. everything went great and locked drive at the end. The problem i am having is that when i plug the new drive in my xbox it does not boot, just says contact xbox support in green letters full screen of contacting xbox support. I am stuck any resolution would be greatly appreciated...

Are you getting a number for the error? Are you sure you locked it with the right EEPROM?

the eeprom came from the xbox . I used FlashFXP to get it and. Is the eeprom supposed to be 1k big. is that correct? also the hd is locked i assume. HDM doesn;t show any error when locking it.

Odd...

If you copied everything and locked it properly, there shouldn't have been any problems.

So no error code is being displayed at all? No numbers in the corner of the screen?

It'd be a shame to chip it now after all the work he's put into it though.

You really shouldn't hijack someone else's topic...

Besides, there's nothing wrong with that evox.ini as far as I can tell, meaning it's probably a problem with how you're putting it on your Xbox hard drive.

In stock Xbox's, the hard drives are always locked to the motherboard. It's part of MS's security on the Xbox, really. If the hard drive isn't locked, the Xbox won't boot.

The only time the Xbox will boot with an unlocked hard drive is if it has a mod chip installed.

So, If I put a chip in, any hard drive will do? Or does it need to be specific to my xbox version? And how do you lock or unlock a hard drive? is this a physical lock or what?

Thanks alot,
