Hi everyone !
I made the mistake of upgrading from v.6.6 to v.7 and I`ve had nothing but trouble since.
Has anyone else had problems?
I`ve just uninstalled/installed Nero for the umteenth time (also from the registry) and it`s got on my nerves so much that I want to find a good alternative.
DVD shrink won`t burn either etc..
Nero is like a cancer.
I`m really p...ed off!
All serious suggestions welcome

You can still download version 6 from this link if you want it back. There are some Nero clean tools somewhere that help get rid of the old junk before a new install. I use to have them but just installed a new PC a week ago and haven't transfered everything yet.

Thanx guys:
Here`s another question.
I always used Neros` "cover designer" for my CDs & DVDs.
Anyone know of a substitute programme that`s as easy to use ??
DVD shrink still works fine using DVD encrypter to burn to DVD - using Iso image.
jerry746: I`ve downloaded Nero v6 like you said, just in case...
It´s still (unfortunately) probably the best software there is
Can`t get rid of the Nero-Scout icon though. He just won`t go away..
perhaps I`m not using the clean tool properly (Thanx munx !)

try here to kill Nero Scout.

I've gone back to version 7.0.8.2 and that one seems to be the most stable of the bunch,

I agree, Nero 6 was the bomb, but when they got greedy and tried to make it the one program that does everything but clean out your cat's litter box, they screwed it up royally. Version 7 has been out for about a year and they still haven't gotten it right!
Good luck and good burning.

Was just pokin around and found this thread someone asked for alternatives. First let me say I was lucky to test Nero 7 during its beta test and had never used it before not only did I not have problems but I really liked it, however after the testing period I was asked to pay for it, kinda sux, so I dropped it I then went through a series of free softwares to see what I could put together, so now I use DVD Shrink, dvd fab decrypter, DVD Decrypter (i kept a copy but is no longer available) good substitute is image burn, so that is my freeware solution to dvd rip/burn but for transcoding video files I purchased a very inexpensive VSO DivX to dvd and it is not only fast but has lots of added features including menues and 5.1 sound. I additionally purchased a dvd player that plays DivX from toshiba and i love it now I almost never transcode anything to dvd i can watch on my player. There is a free version of vso DivX to dvd and it will transcode into pcm stereo/mp3 sound not bad for free and again its fast. I am gonna be testing a newer open source product called "MediaCoder"

@blivetNC:
Nero Scout... is out !! Thanx !!
Yes, he`s gone (for good?) Hard to believe??

Anyway , to repeat my question, can anyone suggest a CD/DCD cover programme to replace "Nero-Cover-designer" ?

Hi, It`s me again,
well my problem with Nero are solved. I don`t run it anymore !!
Instead, on good advice, I`ve installed ashampoo 6- which works great.
So to sum up, for those of you who may be interested, here`s my "Plan":
I check the files with "digividrepair" (Freeware)http://www.videohelp.com/tools?s=12#12
I convert my Divx/Xvids files with "convertXtoDVD" from VSO - (Takes about an hr and the results are worth it) http://www.videohelp.com/tools?s=40#40
You can also use its burn engine, but I use DvdShrink with DVDDecrypter to burn,(Both free)
http://www.videohelp.com/tools?s=16#16
That`s it. Great results without Nero.

@ PAD48

You have posted in the authoring section. It seems none of your Nero replacements are authoring tools (???)
