ya, i thought about replacing the laser but f' if i can find one. I wish i knew how to test the laser for sure to tell if its bad.

all ya can do is email them and ask, i presume they are mate, works out bout 20 quid including delivery my mate orders from them and he says they're reputable.

Like I posted earlier that the rubberband mod solved my opentray error. Till last week, my lens started making somewhat scary noises, infinite seeking trying to read the disk.
I then decided to flash to 5.2, at first it didn't help, till I removed the rubberband. And I cleaned the lens: now it's working properly again. Even though I get the unreadable disk error once in a while. But hey, I'm not complaining when I can play backups ;)

Ok so im getting the please insert this disk into a 360 console problem on 1 game which is c o duty 2.My console is under 4 months old and isnt modified at all.This game was working fine vertually every day for the last 2wks and now this.Do you guys think somrthings up with the console ? I cant see it being the disk the console is picking it up to be a dvd when its a game ??? all of my other games boot up fine apx 8.Any help would be appreciated.

My problem is similar, I'm no newbie, I've been backing up 360 games for almost a year now. But the strangest thing happened this week the last three games I burned the 360's telling me to 'open tray, when ever I put them in the 360, all my games are working fine except the last three, I still use verbatim 8x I had to buy a brand new pineer 111d, but the problem still happens, even after 20 tries, and even the funniest thing is that I reformatted my whole computer and re-burned the games and each of the 3 games worked at first but when I tried them again a few hours later they were giving me the same errors. I have firmware 3.3 I was wondering if anyone else out there has had similar problems.

If it's just those 3, did you get a new batch of media?
you can always try flashing to a newer firmware.

viva pinata has started to do this aswell as dead rising although on a second attempt both games did boot up "strange" lego starwars started to have the same problem as the post above "open tray" once its been inserted but on a retry booted up ok.My console has got the emulator enableing it to play origional x box games but cant see it being that.The big issue is still with cod 2 that game just doesnt wanna play ball,Overall i think the console is gradually getting worse so ill have to see how it goes although it is very frustrating that your fav game dont work.

Okay, im stil having the problems with the 360 not able to play the last three games,it worked after I put the new firmware on and I bought a new Toshiba Samsung drive off e-bay and it worked yesterday, but now Iv'e woke up this morniing and all three games don't work again, Meet the Robinson's, Virtua Tennis 3, and that new football manager game, now its saying 'unreadable disc' on the games that used to say 'open tray' but all my other games play fine. I don't know what it is, I'm going to buy some more 8x verbatim dl dvds today being that the problem first started after I bought a brand new pack of Verbatim dl dvds, but their the same dvds I've been buying for a while now, maybe I got a bad batch or something, at any rate I'll find out in a few hours, after Best Buy opens. But if this has happened to anyone else please let me know, thanks.

Alright in reference to my last post, I bought another 5 pack of verbatim 8x discs and these discs are working fine for me now, the games even start up a lot quicker than the last pack and they are the exact same brand and the exact same speed as the last pack I bought. I swear I got a bad batch of verbatim DL DVDs or something, hopefully there's no more going around, this was a headache.

I agree, my original TS Drive won't open if a Disc isn't in it unless you tap the tray right after you press the eject button, I bought a new TS off e-bay and just flashed the new TS with 5.2 firmware
(of course I had to use my original firmware from my first TS Drive!) But now I've had no problems, and now I have a back-up TS Drive in case the one I'm using right now decides to go out completly or something. And now I also have an extra Pioneer 111d just in case that goes out, all of this because I bought a bad batch of media.

Damnit!! My games quit working again, sometimes they load and sometimes they just sit there and seem to struggle, even my older games aren't working anymore, and I tried them in a friends and they work fine. It's my 360, I'm sure of it now, I've talked with two people on ebay who said they can fix my issue for just $50 guarnteed, I just have to mail in my 360, they said it didn't matter if I had a custom case or xtreme firmware either so it looks like I'll be without my 360 for awhile, its encouraging however to know that you can send a modded 360 in to be repaired, and that all the feedback for the 360 repair shops on ebay is positive.

right 5.2 seems to be the best firmware to use with a pioneer 111d burner, the verbatim discs are by my experience the best media, i had the same prob with the x8's and switched to verbs 2.4x and no prob at all for months, i use clone cd for a direct media to media burn but to burn data from ya pc i'd use img burn but always burn at 2.4,when i burn slower (with both programs) i tend to get a better quality disc the slower ya burn,this might not help ppl out but it worked a treat for me and all my mates,some batches of disc can be bad and also some lens in ya 360's don't recognize the dye on certain media compared to others the only other media ill burn which some ppl think are shit is bulkpaq cheap but no fails there either, if this msg is gibberish it's cos i just come home from the pub/bar i'm pissed need sleep.hope some of this helps prob not but i tried, laters dudes....

okay I bought a pre modded 360 with ixtreme firmware with a samsung m25 drive, it worked fine until around the time bioshock came out, about 2 weeks after it came out I started getting errors in the middle of my games saying 'unreadable disc, please clean with a cloth(or whatever)' My old games all seemed to work fine and I never had trouble with back-ups that were made before Bioshock, but then Stranglehold started giving me the error, and NHL 08, then Conan, But it played my regular dvds fine, but just today I put a movie in it and it just sits at the dashboard saying reading, nothing else, I have had 5 samsung m25 drives and have modded other people's samsung drives, and they all say the same thing is happening to them as well, My question is, is there a defect in the samsung roms that cause back-ups to mess up the laser inside, I bought a new laser for one 360 that I modded, but I think I screwed it up trying to install it, if anyone can help I would really apprecieate it, Thanks a lot.

Hey guys, I have been having the same problem with my 360. Though I can send it in, i am tired of hearing so many people with the same problem and microsoft just sitting on their behinds with a the stupid trouble shooting steps which you have already done. and at the end you have to end up paying them 100 dollars. So in return i am trying to gather as many people with this issue as i can. Microsoft has got a new class action lawsuits on their hands for producing faulty xbox 360 counsols. I would totally understand if it was one or two people but i have been doing research on this and i have found hundreds after hundreds of people with the same issue. I would like to hear your "open tray" stories. Please e-mail me at xboxcomplaints@yahoo.com and hopefully we will be able to get this defect fixed for free. microsoft extended their warrantee on the ring of death which means that you have a hardware failure but since the ring doesn't appear for a disc drive going out, they won't cover that with the warrantee. Hi there folks, im from Argentina, and my xbox360 is modded, so i dont have the official service :P
I have problems with my year old samsung drive, it detects the game PERFECTLY but it returns to the dashboard 10 or 20 seconds later (some games lasts for about a minute, its random...) and its driving me crazy!! ive fixed my xbox 3rings of death with the xclamp fix and NOW THIS?? i can´t believe that micro$oft made this s#i77y console!! its amazing...
I need some help please! i made the rubberband fix but it never worked... im looking forward to tweak the lens with some calibration, but i dont have the tools right now (im not the "technic") LoL
Well my friends i hope someone can lend me a tip... (and sorry for my english, thx a lot)
