I was watching a video of how you do the swap thing and it seems to boot slowly. Does a good modchip take this long to boot or does it do that faster? I'm not talking about the time you actually have to take handling the discs, just the booting time.

A mod chip is the way to go. Especially if you plan on playing lots of games frequently.

Crystal Chip is an option also, especially if you cant be arsed patching DNAS for online play ;)

Yes. I load up my codebreaker followed by a backup of a game all the time on my PS2 with a Matrix Infinity chip.
