My new toshiba notebook comes with Sonic Record Now on it and it is required for restore as I removed it when I first set it up and had some issues and I had to use Sonic Record Now to get me back on the road to getting it working properly again.

So our software tech at the office took it home and basically ghosted it and removed all of my programs and used the disc that came with the notebook to get me back started to get the unit working properly again.
I detest toshiba b/c they don't give you the option of having the OEM software separate.

My question is this, my bro gave me Nero Ultra Edition as he got it given to him at his workplace and he does not use the program.
It is still in the wrapper and unopened, however I had read somewhere that Nero is not compatible with Roxio ( and toshiba said Sonic Record Now is a product of Roxio) and so I was wondering if I install this Nero 7 Ultra Edition with the Sonic Record Now sitting on the notebook whether there will be any conflicts???

Also I read again in another forum that Nero 7 had some problems and that besides the Ultra Edition there is another Nero 7.
I know that my sister has Nero 7 Corporate Edition on her work PC.

I find this all confusing and I don't want Nero not playing ball properly on my new notebook, and as well I don't want a buggy program.

I would appreciate your comments, thankyou

hi. if i was you id get rid of sonic record now & install Nero.nero 7 is the best version to date & ultra is the best in the series. Nero does a lot more than sonic & does it better. you can copy films, music, data, iso's, & lots more & even some games. you should stick with Nero. the only decent roxio is roxio easy media creator 7. hope this helps

Thx, your reply does help as it is always best to speak to end users of software and I have found out that although I can't get rid of Sonic b/c I need it if I run to operating problems on the notebook that what I can do is disable it at start up so that when the notebook boots it does not compete with Nero and that way avoid any conflicts between the software.

I'd really like to rid of the program however it is needed for me to resolve future problems should they arise.
I detest how company's like toshiba slap all the software all on one disc and then if you have a major problem you have to go back and use the restore disc as you don't get copies of the individual softwares; they are all bundled together.
So much for my rant on notebooks!!
Thx again for your reply.
Best Regards

Where is version .18 as all I have been aware of is the 6.6.6.0

What are the issues with Ultra 7 as I am getting mixed messages on 7. I have had members at another forum say that it is the best edition of Nero yet.

Though I can frankly way that I never had any issues with 6.6.6.0 but everyone I talk to tell me that I should update, so I post here as a Noob I am not really certain of what to do.

Thx for the replies.

Thx for replies but I am so confused???? Is Nero Ultra 7 really a bad program as I am getting so many different opinions.

What is the major problem beside the fact that most users complain about the size of it???

I would really appreciate comments, thankyou.

What is the best cleaning tool for Nero since I have 6.6.6.0 installed and i understand that there can be problems if you don't get rid of the original program on your computer.
Thankyou for all of the help.

There is a Nero sweep program we can ask around on AD and get the link first check out the fourms on AD about Nero there is one just for Nero if you have 6.6.6.0 you are above 6.6.0.18 this where you want to get.I would aks the Nero Gurus on this ( this is called dummy down ) not a update . you can get the clean program from Nero's homepage I think thats where I got it but when I used it screwed up outher programs maybe you will have better luck

I thankyou for your comments and just posted in Nero a couple of other questions but forgot about the Clean program.

So if I understand correctly, my version of 6.6.6.0 is the correct current one before Ultra 7 which I have a post in the Nero forum on or am I reading you wrong???

Thankyou

Hmmm, I see I just did a post inquiring about Nero 7 Ultra. Is your comment because it is so bloated or is it b/c it is buggy yet????

Seems there are so many mixed reviews about this program???
