I have a dvd ,that has two parts, first is an introduction, and the 2nd half is the rest of the dvd. I need to pull a section out of it, and I don't know how to do this or what program I need to accomplish this task.

Can someone please help me??

ok easyest way is get: DVD Shrink, locate your DVD content, choose re-author dvd and i think there you can manage what to do next.

hardest is convert it to mpeg and use video editing program to cut out un-needed part and than export it as DVD - this process is quality loss and time weast.

ok?

Thank you Junior, A friend recommonded flash dvd ripper and I downloaded the video converter.

Problem is, that 2nd section which has all the stuff I need to edit, dosen't want to be pulled up or converted-being that it is, it only takes the first section, which is an ad for who did the dvd. I instructed it to read it from the E drive.

I don't understand why it's acting like this.

So, I downloaded dvd region killer version 2.7, and when I click Check Drive Regions, I get this message.

Warning

Drive E is not region free!
Current region: 1

I really have no idea what to do here, I've followed the directions, and still can't get it to read the part of the dvd I need it to read and then convert. *scratches head*

Will using DVD Shrink, get it to read the part of the dvd I need it to read, or would I have more sheer pleasure banging my head against the wall???

Help???

There is a program called VideoReDo which will do exactly what you want (with no loss of quality), frame-accurate and very quick. Import the VOB you want to edit, select the scene(s) and save as (DVD-compliant) mpeg2.

What i suggest get DVD Shrink (its free!) read my 1st post what to do and it will remove all regions, make it free.

1st ting we want is to get your VIDEO_TS folder on to your hard-drive with region free.

let me know how u will get on.

Hi vadimo,

Thanks for your response, and thanks to all here as well.

Well, it turns out the dvd has many chapters, I had to break down, call the video person who made this dvd, have them extract it for me, and then I had to download yahoo mesenger to get the file.

He explained to me, that when you have many chapters as this dvd does, it's very difficult to extract what you need.

I think that was the problem, all those chapters. In the future though, if I come across this again, can anyone recommend something??

Thanks everyone!!

DVD Decrypter in IFO Mode. Decide which chapter what you want begins with. Then uncheck the chapters/cells you DO NOT want.

Rip and then process the movie through IFOEdit.

You can look at my ARccOS guide for the technique:

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260734

Note that this guide shows how to remove corruption on a DVD, so just think of the extra chapters as corruption.

Alternately, you can use DVD Decrypter in File Mode. Then open the DVD with PGCEdit. Preview each cell and then remove the cells that you do not want. Then process the movie with FixVTS.

Also, you can use VobBlanker. Rip with DVD Decrypter in File mode. Open the DVD with VobBlanker. Then use the prev/cut feature to cut out everything you do not want. Process the DVD and that's it.

It may seem hard to do this type of stuff, but once you do it one time it becomes second nature...
