how can you tell if a disk is good or not?
i always hear people saying "yeah those disks are good/bad".
is there any way of knowing from looking at it?

Do the below if you want to know how good your media is....

1st you need to find out what the Manufactures ID# is of the media.

I will give you 3 ways to find the Manufacturers ID#

You can use Nero by using Nero Info Tool. Put in a blank disc and run Info Tool. After it scans the disc click on the DISC tab and it will give you the ID# of the media.



You also can use DVD Decrypter by putting in a blank disc and look to the right in the info box.



You can use IMGBurn put in a blank disc and look in the information box to the right.



Once you find the Manufacturers ID# go to the link below and find the media under whatever class it falls into. If your doing video backup then you want to use CLASS 1 media nothing less.

As you can see the DVD ID# for my DVD's is TYGO2. So I have my TYGO2 media highlighted in red in the list below which is First Class DVD's
