Nero will give you more headaches than anything, please make an ISO with DVD Shrink and burn the image with Imgburn. Make life easy on yourself.

Success (well at least almost there) at last :) Now it looks like the problems were pc related - bad or going hard drive on one and fan unplugged on the other.
Cut the burn speed down to have the rated speed of the media too when you burn this again.
I usually use the dvd-video option in Nero and haven't had a problem w/ playback on any players.
You could also update Nero to 6.6.0.18
package 1
package 2 (recode & vision)
Depending on your oem version recode & vision may not be available.
For ImgBurn since you have the video_ts folder already you can use the build mode to burn. See the guide in garmoon link.

@bhowes
Run the defrag 1st then try again. Depending on how fragmented the hard drive is may be causing a problem.

still not having any luck :( let me tell you what I've tried.
I have three folders on my desktop the 2 "problimatic" titles we started this thread with and an older title I've backed up before. I've been alternating witch one I burn.

1. I did folder2iso - DVD Decrypter (followed the guide)
2. imagetool classic - imgburn (followed the guide)
3. Nero (the 6 ver i mentioned above) - dvd video option
4. upgraded Nero to 7.5 - dvd video option (made iso tab options to highest compliance)
5. a udf rom w/ Nero 7.5 even though it gave me a popup saying this was not a good idea.

All of theese methods gave me a dvd that playes on my powerbook but thats it. would not play on the pc (the one that made the disk!) w/ powerdvd, also would not play on standalone or xbox.

the burner is a NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A. I just installed this burner from a g4 tower I am selling. When it was installed on that machine W/toast I would select dvd rom (udf) and drag in the TS folders. with the same spindle of media theese disks played in every drive I have.

do you think the drive might need some kinda of upgrading on this computer??

I did defrag the hard drive but didn't get the chance to try burning Stay Alive, I had to burn a couple movies for my son. I'm going to try tonight again though.

ok I got one to work! I updated the dvd drive firmware AND changed the media from fugifilm 16x DVD+R to maxell 8x DVD+R, and I went back to imgburn because that seems to be the preference. I'm gonna try some more I hope it was the firmware that did it and not the media because I have alot if the fugi left.

Well I tried everything once again last night after defragging the HD then going through the process that ALKOHOL provided but ended up getting the same error, "not enough memory". I then tried using an old program I purchased about 2 years ago called DVDReMake and found that in the main movie there were two cells that were blank. I removed those then processed the movie in this program. I then tried the movie (The Wild) with shrink and had success!! I then tried it with Stay Alive and once again I was successful with a back up.
I followed everyone's suggestions to a tee and think I might keep trying just in case I'm missing some box that I should have or shouldn't have had checked off. In the mean time, for those nasty ones I think the old progam I got for $10 will have to do. It's just a little slower than using Vob Blanker. I'll be back at it again tonight.

Good to hear you had success w/ these movies!! Both have Macrovision's Ripguard, bad calls, invalid structure etc. junk on them.

Try the RipIt4Me too - uses Shrink, Decrypter, FixVTS to clean up the files. Great program too for these 'tougher' ones. Does a nice job.

well been moving right along now, and experimenting a bit, So far i've got backups from IMGBurn and Nero (dvd video) to play in a standalone player fine. I still can't get any to show up as a data rom or a DVD for that matter ,in the xbmc (xbox media center), except when I burn one in toast on my powerbook (data disk/default) same media and all, same files. Or when I had this NEC burner hooked up to a mac... (you know this story). I cant understand why a burning software makes so much difference. especially when Nero had so many options and Toast has like none. I'm gonna try Easy Media Creator 9, because this is the same company that makes toast. hmmm suck a good program on the mac but such a cheesy lookin pc program???

Hey nitepeopl
Nero and Roxio doesn't always play well together when their packet writing software is installed. Nero's is InCD and I think Roxio's is drag to disc (?). Haven't used Easy CD Creator but if you can do a custom install leave that one off.
XBox's & PS2's can be quite picky on what they play. To bad the NEC doesn't booktype - you could booktype the +R Fuji's to DVD-Rom. That might do the trick.

Good to hear you have having more success too!

Book typing to DVD-Rom can be done to +R media only (+R, +RW, +R DL). It just sets a field on the disc to make the disc appear to be a DVD-Rom whcih is almost universally compatible.
Need a burner that supports it. Your NEC doesn't.

Next time you get a burner may want to get one that supports this - alot do like LiTeOn, LG, Plextor etc.

so maybe even though the drive does not support it, just by chance it was doing it when installed on my mac?

Nope it won't have bootyped using the Mac. The drive itself has to have the ability to do it.

Have you tried using this burner recently w/ the Mac? Just my quess but but even w/ the different programs on a mac vs windows the disc should sill be playable.

you know I was about to start typing about how many backups I have that were all burnt with this drive on a mac, but then I thought of last time I assumed something like that, I really dont want to pull this thing out at least not today I think I have time friday I still have the tower. Just for the hell of it I'm going to burn a disk with the same media on my laptop it has same os and apps as the tower.
also
I did upgrade the firmware when I moved the drive over.
