Using DVDShrink to compress and backup my dvd's for awhile now. Just got some new dvds I'm backing up and I use Decrypter to copy dvd files directly to my HD. When I drop the files into Shrink it analyzes as usual, but the maximum amount of compression it will allow on them varies from dvd to dvd and it's not 45%, for instance on oneof the dvds it will only allow me to compress the movie to a 64.9% The dvd files are constructed to where there is one menu file and one title file. I try custom ratio, but it won't allow me to put anything lower than 64.9 % It's like that on some other dvd's too. The problem with this is it will only compress to 4,714 MB, and I need to get it to 4,464 MB. Anybody who could offer any help, it would be greatly appreciated, as the video quality just goes all to pot when you have to compress the same dvd twice.

Try removing some languages you don't need to give you a better compression level. MenuShrink can also help.

99% of all problems are between the computer and the chair.

well, there's only two audio streams. Japanese and english (it's anime) and I want to keep both of them. If I could get the compression ratio to about 55% or so, I think I'd be alright, but for some reason I can't get it any lowe than 64.9%

You can always cut out the credits and the opening 'junk' of the movie. That saves some space. But, if you want to keep both audio streams you may be SOL to get the compression where you want it. You are going to have to sacrifice either the second audio stream or the compression rate.

No, I know that, I'm just saying that DVDShrink won't allow me to put the compression ratio any lowe than 64.9% Not saying I don't want to, It's that the program won't let me. It should let me go as low as 45%
