I am trying to back-up Eurotrip and I am running into problems. DVD Shrink will not rip nor will DVD Decypter. But I can successfully rip using DVD Fab Decrypter and run through Vob Blanker. BUt when I open in DVD Shrink, it still can not open the Vob Blanker created file. It says there is an error with VOB 04_05. It I successfully rip and then processed with VOB with no errors, why does Shrink still think there is an error? How can I correct?

Hello.

I don't think there was anything special about this title. Here's a couple of suggestions.

1. Run the DVDFab files through FixVTS before prcessing with DVD Shrink.

2. Use Ripit4me (free). It uses DVD Decrypter the old fashioned way with a PSL file, FixVTS to clean up bad cells, and then DVD Shrink. Links to software in the guide.

Let is know how you make out.

I ripped with DVD Fab, then processed through FixVTS and then through Vob Blanker but DVD Shrink will still not open. Still says error with VOB 04_05. Why?

Hello again.

I don't know the cause. There seems to be something wrong with the file. If you still have the original disk, try ripit4me. If that doesn't work and you have cleaned the disk, I'd guess the disk is defective in some way. Can you try ripping it on a different drive?

OK. I ripped with RitIt4Me and then processed through VTSFix. After that, I opened with Shrink and it starrted to analysis but at the 76% mark it stop and gave me the error "Invalid access to memory location". What does this mean and is there a fix? Seems more and more that the disc is "no good".

Since you have and seem to know how to use DVD Decrypter, try this:

STEP 1 - Open up DVD Decrypter in FILE Mode.

When you decrypt a DVD, do you notice in the log how every VOB file has a key listed with it??? Well it should, otherwise when you try and use DVDShrink you will get the error message 'Invalid access to memory location'. Here is how to fix this issue.

STEP 2 - Look at each VOB and make sure there is a key next to it in the DVD Decrypter LOG or by right clicking on the VOB file name on the right and then click on 'Properties'.

STEP 3 - If it's good, then move on, if not, then in the same VOB grouping (e.x. - VTS_08_0.VOB, VTS_08_1.VOB, VTS_08_2.VOB) and in FILE mode, write down the key that was used to decrypt the VOB file in this grouping.

For me, I was having problems decrypting VTS_08_0.VOB, so I wrote down the key that was used for VTS_08_1.VOB.

STEP 4 - I then went to 'Tools > Settings' in the DVD Decrypter menu at top. I clicked on the 'CSS' tab and checked the box that says 'Force Decryption Key'. I typed the key that I wrote down and pressed 'OK'.

STEP 5 - Next, right click on the VOB file that you know did not have a key next to it, as was listed in the LOG file, and click on 'Decrypt'.

STEP 6 - Follow the above for each VOB file that for some reason or another did not get decrypted and does not have a key associated with it.

STEP 7 - Now you can open up the Video in DVD Shrink and perform an analysis without getting any error messages.

Wow, this is an older, but still great movie. Back in the day, all I used was DVDDecrypter and Shrink. No problems. Your original DVD may be bad.
