Please help. I can't seem to find any solutions on Google or on this forum yet.

I turn on my Win XP computer and if I don't use the computer for a period of time (an hour or so), I get this message that basically locks up my computer.
"Motive System has encountered an error and needs to close." The options it sometimes gives me is, Debug (which I have done and I'm not sure what this even does), and Cancel.

How do I fix this VERY annoying problem. It sucks to have to manually shut off my computer everytime I leave it for an hour or so.

Thanks in advance.

Don't think your going to find a solution on Google. I couldn't even find out what Motive System is, or what it is for. Do you know?

Couple of questions:

I'm guessing you have an HP. If not, what brand computer you have?
Does the error give techinical details? If so, post them here.
Does it only happen when not using your computer? That'd be very odd but, you said when your away. What about when your using it?

Thanks for the response. Yes, it's an HP. There is no "technical" information given when I see the error. But here's what I'm guessing might be happening. Basically, when the computer goes into Hibernation, somthing is going wrong with the logic. My screen is all black (normal), then I move around the mouse and the screen refreshes. This is when I see the error. Sometimes I can move the mouse cursor, and sometimes I can't (because it's locked up).

Here's another thing: Normally, when my computer starts up, all these darned "pop ups" come up that HP installed on the computer when I bought it from the store. If I knew how to get rid of all these collateral start up programs in windows, it might clear the problem. I've been living with this "problem" for a couple of years now and I'm getting tired of it. As a result, I'm to the point where I primarily use my laptop and my desktop is just a fixture to run my wireless through now.

Not sure if any of the extra information might help.

Not sure if it will help this error but, it might. You can remove programs from starting with Windows with the programs settings or using a program. I'd recommend using HijackThis since it's much eaiser than setting each program not to run on startup. You must be careful when removing programs from startup as some are needed.

If you want, download HijackThis extract the file to it's own folder then run a scan. I'd recommend you save a log file and post it here so you don't delete something you need. I will help you choose the non-neede ones. You'll need to tell me what the popups are saying or what they're for.

If you want to do it yourself, 04 entries are startup keys. Just place a check beside the ones you want gone and click "Fix checked". If you delete something needed, the backups are created in HijackThis' folder.
