I downloaded a game that i have on nomal disk for back-up and it wont work on my PS2. do I need a mod chip or something?

Yes, a modchip or something like SwapMagic.

btw, why download a game as backup? Wouldnt it be easier to just copy the original disc, which you say u have?

Well i tried to copy the game with toast titanium but it said it was copy protected or something and just download it. And also is SwapMagic just a disk that you insert to boot it up?

In the future u can try DVD Decrypter - I've seen guides here somewhere.

Yes, SwapMagic is a boot-disc. You boot up and then have to open the tray and swap it with the backup disc. It's easy to install compared to a mod chip, but if you have the money I'd suggest a mod chip.

And another thing. I have the downloaded file of the game i have and its got the files .r01, .r02, .r03...... i am runing on a mac and the only rar expander program i have is RAR expander. I tried to click on the first file (.r01) but it wouldnt let me. Got any ideas about whats wrong?

Use WinRAR to extract the iso from those compressed archives.
