Ive been using DVD Shrink for a while now. Ever so often I get the message that DVD Shrink can not go on not enough memory. So I unstall and re install and it works, but what do i need to do to stop doing this. I also have dvd clone, dvd clone 11 and AnyDVD. Which is better and how do i run the process.
First, make sure you've got enough space on your hard drive for temp storage of the video files ripped. You should, at the very minimum have 6GB of free space available (if you're running low on space, delete any and all unnecessary files as possible).
A "not enough memory" error is usually caused by copy protection on the disk that shrink alone is unable to handle, so..
Since you state you have AnyDVD and clonedvd2, these two should be all you need to backup your DVD collection, I have them and have been able to backup anything without a problem. If you do encounter an issue using these two, always make sure you have the current versions of both (especially AnyDVD), when I did have a problem, an update was able to take care of it. If the combination is unable to backup a DVD, well then there maybe something wrong with the disk itself, I would exchange it for another and retry.
Install clonedvd2 then AnyDVD, after AnyDVD is installed, look for the little red fox in the task bar to make sure it's running. Start clonedvd2 and proceed with the backup process, AnyDVD runs in the backround to crack the copy protection on the disk making the backup process painless.
This is the combimation that works for me and I'm sure will work for you. Others may or may not have a different opinion, but the choice is as always yours to make.
