Hi: I am trying to back up a movie called "How to lose your lover" - It's a comedy.. BUT after placing the disc in the burner I get a screen which which wants you to install "Interactual Player 2.0"? It give you three choices 1) Agree/install 2) Cancel install 3)view license. The license allows you to access additional content and features from the movie disc AND from the internet. using the "Cancel install" and after trying to decrypt using "DvdFab" and then "Dvd Decrypter", I fell about 30 seconds short of getting the encode. If I use "Agree/install", what happens? Am I forever in line with this? Ronnies

from what i heard a whiel back, interactual player is another way of preventing movies from being bakced up, htat is why in AnyDVD options you can prevent autorun. the extra content isnt all that fantastic usually anyway, i mean how good could it possibly be. i suggest that you click cancel always.

Interactual Player has been known to cause problems with other backup software. You would be wise to not install this program. If you are having problems on your rip at the end check the disk, as there could be a scratch/fingerprint of some other imperfection on the edge.

Cancel is what you always want to hit. This is not a system friendly peice of software.

Thnk you "Phantom69","zcs626" "Arniebear" and "oneacer" for your kind and responsive reply to the "Interactual Player 2.0". I will definitly not activate that program. Has any one successfully backed up after hitting "Cancel/install" and been successful? My primary decrypters are "DvdFab" and "Dvd Decrypter", they usually work - even with the "Sony" encryption. "AnyDvd" is not compatible with my current system.
Thanks again for your time and response. Ronnies

Also every once in a while when i put a dvd in that program comes up and all i do is just exit/close the program and continue with the process without having any troubles.
Also i have to say i do not use AnyDVD so i dont know if it conflicts with that, all i use is free programs execpt Nero sometimes

Hello 300bowler: You use just about the same decryption programs that I have had success with. I don't really know if having "interactual Player" installed will be of any practical use - don't know? I guess my main question is " If I select "Cancel" when the interactual Player page appears, can that movie still be backed up or is that some sort of Encryption that won't allow it to be backed up? Thanks for your help and comments. Ronnies

@ronnies or newbies

Whenever you inserted a new dvd into your dvd burner or dvd rom and that "Interactual Player" comes up, all you need to do is: always CANCEL or EXIT out.

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.

ronnies,
Most of the people on here have successfully backed-up movies when you hit cancel. 300bowler is the first one I have heard of that has it on their computer. I just hit cancel and keep going.

hello car.mike,

Yup, although it has only came up probably for 4-6 dvds, cant remember which ones though, and it did come up on one recently, id say like a month ago still cant remember though.

I guess i should uninstall it seeing that i never use it, and always use Intervideo WinDVD

It's spyware. Look at the EULA, they even mention that what info they send back to Interactual.

http://player.interactual.com/default.asp?code=PP

It's also called PC-Friendly. It's intended to be a player for those who do not have DVD players on their PC, though it has some unwanted "extras" as you might expect. I am not aware of any reports of it interfering with DVD or CD operation, however.

-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.

6. Interactual Player and PC Friendly Player: These programs are DVD software viewers that often come on DVD movie discs, and will try to install themselves everytime you watch a movie on your computer. Please make sure to NOT let these install. Both programs interfere with all DVD Authoring software and should be un-installed from Add or Remove programs in control panel when found. In some cases, you will need to uninstall and reinstall your software to restore functionality after removing one of these. For more information about both players, visit http://player.interactual.com/
