Hi
The FW hack you mention does what you want and alows the 360 to play backups.
Look in the FAQ or do a search in the forum.

yes there is a chip out called the "nme-360" and "globe360". both let you play backups but it is alot easier and cheaper to just flash the firmware.

ashmat, the chips that are out don't work like the modchips did for the regular xbox system. As far as I know, the current chips that are out will allow you to play backed up games like you want to do, but they work by patching the dvd drive inside the xbox 360 so that it doesn't know if its reading a real game disc or a backed up game disc. If this isn't what your looking for, there currently isn't anything else out that does this a different way. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Hope that answers your question though.

Well, over the years modding all my consoles since the PSX, there were 2 reasons to mod each. To play backups & imports.
This is what you'll get from the current Xbox360 chip(NME-360):
- Allows ' on the fly ' patch to allow your backups to play
- Automatically ' turns off ' when using an original media
- NEW Automatically 'turns off' when network connection is established.
- NEW Front FacePlate Power LED turns off when enabled
- No Manually switching or button holding needed!
- No firmware replacement = doesn't touch your firmware!
As you see, your losing, or should I say not 'gaining' the capabilty of playing imports. And from what I hear, it ain't gonna happen either. I hope I'm wrong, cause the Biohazard/Resident Evil series is my high point in gaming, and I certainly don't want to have to buy 2 Xbox360's to play the Japanese imports as well, if they aren't region free...

I heard that we can play games off the external hdd with Blaster360. I'm not sure how and which program/software used.
I will check this out at my friend's friend xbox360. My friend said his friend's xbox360 can play games off the 400GB external HDD.
Is this real? I will find out soon.
