I have the latest version of fab but lately it hasnt been able to handle movies even when running them through Vob Blanker. I'm doing United 93 and fab and VOB couldnt do it shrink wouldnt open. I did see a guy in green shorts jumping up and down so figured this was some sort of bad cell? Anyway I just ran it thorough ripit4me and shrink is having no problems. Anyone know whats going on with fab.

UNITED 93 is just another piece of cake. I did mine with DVDFAB Decrypter, then process the VIDEO_TS.IFO file and blank out unwanted junks through VobBlanker flawlessly. Easy as sippin' on a Corona.

No, DVDFAB Decrypter is on the rise and still standing strong, as long as Fengtao keep on updating his other decrypting engines, such as DVDIdle Pro and DVD Region+CSS FREE, DVDFAB Decrypter will never die.

Here's the new DVDFAB Decrypter 3.0.1.0 (updated 9/18/06) http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm

@ tmfloria,

I think it might be, i just DL the link for the new version and then i went to install it and it said version 2.9.8.3 will be installed, so i canceled the install, since i have that already installed.

@ mikey73, i also have used DVDFab for all the latest dvds, no problem what so ever for me

@ alkohol, AD members, has any one been able to download the new version?

Alkohol I've used your method many times and recommended it to all my friends but lately it hasnt worked on a couple of movies it took rip it4me and fix vts to do the job. I tred V for vendetta with fab and VOB and kept getting errors in shrink. So i previewed the files and found a messed up green screen in the beginning so I tried to blank it out then shrink couldnt find file. I ended up running that file through fix vts then it worked but VOB didnt corrected the problem or fab. Same with flight 93 a guy in green shorts kept jumping up and down but after i used ripit4me and fixvts he was gone and I backed up the movie no problem. I really like fab hope it stays around but I'm getting worried.

Honestly, I don't know why you (and your buddy) keep getting errors with DVD Shrink, but I haven't seen any movies/dvds that I can not backup yet at the moment. Regardless if it's V for Vendetta, RV, Inside Man, United 93, Silent Hill, etc., I've never encountered any issues "ripping" via DVDFAB Decrypter or "processing" the VIDEO_TS.IFO file and "blanking" through VobBlanker whatsoever. DVDFAB Decrypter has never let me down since Fengtao first introduced his wonderful engine to the public.

Yes... if DVDFAB is giving you some hard times, then it's always good to go with alternative (i.e. RipIt4Me). RipIt4Me is another flawless method, perhaps another great and useful free tool to have.

Good luck and happy burning. By the way, I wouldn't worry too much about DVDFAB Decrypter being dead or not updated, I have my faith in Fengtao for his genuine skills and talented.

The GUI certainly looks different from the last version. I'm a little confused though. With 2.9.8.3 I had to rip to HD, shrink with Shrink and use DVD Decrypter to burn. With 3.0.1.0 you have the options of copying Full Disc, Main Movie, Split, etc. Is DVDfab now a one stop shop? Will it actually burn the disc as well?

I think I figured it out. It seems like tmfloria's link is for DVDfab Platinum?. Fengtao gives this update on CDfreaks site Sept 18:

DVDFab Platinum 3 Beta
Dear all,

DVDFab Platinum/Gold 3.0.1.0 is out (2006/09/18)!

http://www.dvdfab.com

DVDFab Platinum 3 is brand new, is completely rewritten, is based on 5 years of DVD copy software development.

Features Highlight:

A. DVD to DVD
1. 5 DVD to DVD copy mode available: Full Disc, Main Movie, Split, Customize and Clone.
2. Full Disc: All movies, menus, trailers and special features, is copied to a DVD with just one click.
3. Main Movie: Nothing else! just copy the movie, with specific audio/subpicture.
3. Split: Copy a DVD-9 onto two DVD discs with 100% quality, and preserve original menus on both discs.
Ideal for episodic/season DVD movies, TV series, etc.
4. Customize: Personalize your DVDs! Want to make a DVD with only your favorite titles?
How about cutting out those annoying commercials? Or selecting specific audio/subpicture?
No problem! You can select just your favorite titles, specify the title playback order,
with or without original menus, to create a DVD with only the stuff you want!
5. Clone: Make perfect 1:1 bit-to-bit copy of DVDs:
Make perfect dual layer DVD copy by using the original layer break position.
Copy data DVD disc, like PS2 DVD.
6. Very fast copying speed, normally it's about 10 - 20 minutes.

B. DVD to Mobile
1. 3 DVD to Mobile copy mode available: Generic, iPod and PSP. More devices support can be added manually.
2. Generic: Convert DVD title to DivX, AVI or MP4 which can be played on PC or specific device.
3. iPod: Convert DVD title to MPEG4/H264 MP4 which can be played by Apple iPod.
4. PSP: Convert DVD title to MPEG4/H264 MP4 which can be played by Sony PSP.

No it's not the platinum ver actually..
It looks like Platinum because they want you to buy platinum.. the ripping to HD function is the only function that works full disc or main movie .. Everything else if you click on it will say it's only available in the platinum ver..
