Hi guys. I am having trouble installing the 1.50 fw in devhook .46.
I use the devhook firmware installer to get my FLASH0 folder, and X-Flash to dump my firmware so I can get my FLASH1 folder. Both of these folders are in the right place (dh\150\...) But when I load DevHook .46 and choose firmware 1.50 (not 1.50F)the memorystick flashes a little bit then the PSP freezes. How do I get fw 1.50 to emulate? I am doing this so I can test my own gameboot.
I have tried it with 2.71 fw and it didn't work. When I tested it, there was no gameboot. It just had a black screen for a second and then continued on to the game. I have been reading arround and have been told that it has to be tested in 1.50 fw. How do I install 1.50 to DevHook?
Thanks.

Why do you want to emulate 1.5, you already have it on you PSP. And I am pretty sure only 2.71 works.

What firmware do you have on your PSP? From what you are saying, to me it sounds like you don't have 1.5 firmware but you put on DevHook to try to emulate 1.50.

If so, then it isn't going to work. Downgrade to 1.5

I think he's trying to use the escape from devhook 2.XX app after he's done emulating the firmware. I also had troubles when my psp wouldn't change back to 1.5. I did the next logical step, took out the battery and everything was normal again^_^

No, sorry for being unclear guys.
I already have 1.50 firmware on my PSP but I want to emulate it so I can test my custom gameboots. If they work in DevHook 1.50 then I will flash them to my original 1.50 firmware. I want to make sure that they work so I don't brick my PSP.

No I cannot. I believe I had allready stated that I could not test them in 2.71 fw. If you still believe that I can then show me how, otherwise I need to know how to install 1.50 firmware to DevHook.

Yes its possible there is version of devhook that comes pre modded with custom gameboots. I know the majority of us seen it, the one with the bleach 3 custom gameboot. As for doing it - the gameboot has to be named gameboot.pmf and goes into the dh\271\flash0\vsh\resource folder(make sure to overwrite the one that already resides there). There really isnt any speical things that need to be applied to it (besides being named gameboot.pmf) considering its only being emulated but I know if you're going to flash it has to be no more 1MB, runs more then 3 seconds, and has to be named gameboot.pmf, like what I said earlier. If I'm wrong concerning the specs of the gameboot in relation to 1.5 firmware, someone please correct me.

Thanks for explaining it but what you said is exactly what I have been doing and it is not working for me. I just tried a different gameboot and the same thing happened (it did not use it). I already have one flashed to my PSP that is 216kb and 1 second long if not shorter. I tried that gameboot out in devhook and it did not work but it does in my flash. I think that it will not work with my devhook unless I install 1.50fw.
Do you know how to do this?

That is really odd because I have used custom gameboots on my psp. Im going to try right now to make sure. As for installing the 1.5 firmware you will have to obtain the data.psar file from a 1.5 update and then use the firmware installer to install the files - that comes with most versions of devhook. if u cant find it - it should be hosted at http://www.psp-hacks.com

I have a .pmf codec installed for my media player so I can view .pmf's on my computer. If they work on Windows Media Player and are less that 1.2 MB are they safe for my PSP?

I usually never go over 1MB just to make sure. But I just installed a custom gameboot on my 2.71 firmware emulated by devhook and it works just fine. I would make sure that the file format is actually .pmf. If you have windows hide known file extension then more then likely it is gameboot.pmf.pmf. I have to leave now but if you pm me your msn or yahoo addy I will send you my confirmed working gameboot and I will teach you how to intall it properly.

Ya, I have already installed 1.50 to Devhook via DevHook firmware installer and X-Flash using the total firmware dump option and coppied Flash1 to dh\150\ but it did not work. I think it was a bad install.

Do you have any 1.50 games that have the update? You can just rip the update from that...

Thats why it wont boot the 1.5 firmware. doing a simple firmware dump and dropping the flash1 wont suffice you also need flash0. If you use the firmware installer that comes with devhooks it extracts the files out of the data.psar and places everything where it needs to go.

Yes I realize that. I used the DevHook fw installer to get the Flash0 and used X-Flash to get Flash1 and placed them together but when I try to load 1.50 (not 1.50F) in DevHook, the PSP shuts down.

the devhook firmware installer should of extracted both flash0 and flash1. but there is something your doing wrong concerning custom gameboots with 2.71. I have tested it numerous times on 2.71 and it worked everytime for me.

When I used the DevHook installer, it only installed Flash0. I thought that was weird because I was sure that it should have installed both. I will try it again and see if it does a better install. As far as the gameboots go, I know I am naming them correctly because they are named the same and the same way as the one that was flashed to my PSP, but I don't know what i'm doing wrong. Any other helpful suggestions?
Thanks for your responses bro.

yeah no problem bro. i dont know if this will help but it might. go to windows explorer - tools - folder options - then the view tab. scroll down and uncheck the hide known file extensions tabs. after you do that go and check the gameboot file. if it is named gameboot.pmf.pmf then that could be why.

No, that didn't work, they were all named correctly. Thanks though, I was looking for that option so I could disable it.
I just ran the DevHook fw installer and everything went fine until I pressed O to save registry to Flash1. When I pressed it it said
"can't create ms0:/dh/150/flash1/registry/system.dreg" and same for .ireg.
I think I have a bad 1.50 eboot or DATA.PSAR.

i had issues getting devhook to emulate 1.5, but it was the reg. files i needed. just download a firmware dump of 1.5 from psp-hacks, it should work.

I just did that and put the dump in dh\150\ and ran devhook. I selected 1.50 for firmware (not 1.50F) and my PSP shut down. I don't know what's wrong.

System hickup, but will add something to that as well. the only issue i have w/ emulating 1.5 is i can't load any iso's or whatever using that emulation, maybe i'm missing a file but the XMB works and i can load homebrew. so i can test new gameboots and fonts and things.
