My ILO DVDR04 has stopped playing a disc.I don't have another player to play the disc in to see if it will play.
The dvd is x-rated,didn't cost over $10.00,does not contain many scratches, has been cleaned as well as the dvd lense.

The player plays some of my other discs well.

What is wrong with this disc?

Another dvd playes some chapters but not others.

Is it possible to damage a dvd to not play some chapters?

Yes it is possible that it will play some parts of the DVD and not others if there is some scratches on it.

Your best bet is to see if you can get your computer to read the disc and rip it to HDD and make a copy of it.

Other then that try to fix the scratches by rubbing toothpaste over them using a soft rag(make sure you rub from the center of the disc to the outer part of the disc)(do not rub in circles). Or buy a DVD/CD repair kit and try to repair the scratches.

It could laso be a bad press which then try to return it for a DVD that is not deffective. This could be the problem since allot of the XXX DVD movies are made low budget and cheap.

Thanks, that helped alot.

I tested the dvd in another player and it played well.

Since I've cleaned the lense, what could be causing the read difFiculty, and the freeze ups?
My warranty has expired.

Should I remove the cover and manually clean the parts?

It could be just a cheap player that pics up the flaws on the DVD easier. If you can play other DVD's in the player with no problem then it is just the combo of that DVD and that DVD player. More then likly it is a little of both. Cheap DVD disc plus a Cheap DVD player.
