I've searched this and other boards for fixes on WriteDVD 10 11 W2 errors, but they don't seem to fully answer my problem.
Several weeks ago, I decided to get down and figure this dvd burning mess. Turned out that Roxio and Nero were conflicting and causing a fuss. So I removed them (yes, fully, using the scrubbing programs mentioned on this site), then installed AnyDVD and dvdclone.
After a few successful tests, it looked like everything was peachy.
Then I tried to get ambitious: Dual Layer. I got a pack of Fuji's from Best Buy and had a go last night....then the infamous WriteDVD 10 11 W2 error.
I tried a second time with a fresh disk. I thought I had figured the problem...I hand't switched the media type on DVDclone....but still no dice.
Just before leaving for work, I tried a third time with another one - this time actually thinking and adjusting the burn speed to 2/2.4x. ...and failure.
That's it in a pinch.
anyDVD
DVDClone2
Fuji DL +R DL
Brand new Memorex DVD R/W with DL (firmware updated...but it was new)
reading off a older Memorex DVD player (2 years old? I have not updated the firmware on this)
Yes, they are both memorex, but they were working fine a week ago with single layer DVDs
The DVD to be backed up was Pride Fighting Bushido 5.
I have not run it through Decrypter, but based on comments on other threads, that seems to be moot.

Hi crumbles
Fuji is newer in the dual layer market. Best bet is to use Verbatim dual layer discs. They have been making and prefectin longer than other manufacturers. More compatible w/ most drives.
Exchange the Fuji maybe?
Give decrypter a shot - or imgburn.
http://imgburn.com
Have these setting in decrypter if using AnyDVD
Tools>Settings
General Tab - uncheck 'check for structure protection'
CSS Tab - under 'CSS Cracking Method' check 'none'
Rip in iso mode than burn the mds file w/ decrypter or imgburn. Burn at 2.4x.

Thanks Binkie.. will do all of that except returning the fuji. Once you open the package, and "use" a disk, I can't see them agreeing to an exchange.
Verbatim next time though.

Okay, I returned (my surprise) my Fuji DLs for some Verbatim +R DL 8x speed, 8.5 GB/go data 240 min video (for use is 8x DVD+R DL drives).
My drive is a 8x DL Memorex (see above for fuller specs)
Using DVD clone, I burned the image to an IO file using 2.4x speed, for a DVD/DL disk type.
Then I tried to burn to disk using ImgBurn. Here's the error messages I got:
Almost right off the bat -
"OPTIMAL L1 DATA ZONE START LBA: NON FOUND! (VTS_01)
THIS IMAGE AHS NOT BEEN MASTERED CORRECTLY FOR BURNING ONTO A DOUBLE LAY (OTP TRACK PATH) DISK.
NONE OF THE CELLS MEET THE "DVD-VIDEO SPECIFICATION' CRITERIA FOR A POTENTIAL LAYER BREAK POSITION.
DO YOU WANT TO CONTINUE ANYWAY?"
I push "yes", then got this message:
"i/o errr!
devie: [1:0:0] Memorex 16x-ddl-in 1.a4 (e:) (ata_
scsistatus: 0x02
Interpretation: check conditon

Suggestions from here? Is that disk dead too, along with the previous two tests? These things are pretty expensive...
Thanks again in advance.

Under the Options tab choose ISO9660 + UDF as your file system.
Quote: UDF is a file system in it's own right and does not depend on another one also being present.
UDF supports long / mixed case file names and does NOT have the 4GB file size limit of Joliet and ISO9660.
It is the 'better' option for those people using up-to-date operating system. I say 'up-to-date' because older ones like Windows 95 and 98 cannot read / understand the UDF file system and will probably report the disc as being corrupt if that's the only one on it.
Because you are using ISO9660 by itself according to the error you posted:
Quote: ISO9660 is the original one that's been around for years and has quite limited functionality.
For Example:
You're limited to 8.3 characters for a file name (i.e. SOMEDOCU.TXT)
You're limited to all uppercase file names.
You're limited to file less than 4GB in size.
BTW, I love PrideFC.

That was the default option....so already selected.
The only box in options that is checked (by default) is "Recurse Subdirectories".
Yeah, wish I could go to the Vegas event in October.

I just switched to UDF only, not ISO9660 + UDF, and the calculator works fine. I'm going to start it going just as I leave for work. Fingeres crossed.

Is your firmware current? Next, time try a SL disc if you are tired of wasting those expensive DL discs and post the entire log please.

Your drive might be dying on you....check all connections, blow out with some canned air. Firmware is current, using quality media etc. there isn't anything that I can see wrong with your log unless I've overlooked it.
For a better opinion, you might want to post your query here:
http://forum.imgburn.com/
But, doubt if you get any different advise there or anywhere else on the net...fingers are crossed for ya.

So, although it works fine for SL, when it comes to DL, it may be defective? This is fine, just want to clarify.

DL burning requires more power than single-layer burning. It's good that you're finding out though now before you get halfway through a burn only to find out there's a problem.
Faster-speed burning also requires more laser power. It's possible (though I don't know if IMGBurn will let you) try to burn at a slower speed, which is usually a good idea anyway. I burn all my DLs at 2.4x speed or less, no matter what.
-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.

Try 1x, though I DO believe it's your drive then. I had an LG 4163B burner have it's double-layer capability fail after just a dozen burns - and I'm not the only one. My LG is now a single-layer-only burner. Unlike you, though, I wasted enough discs to be able to afford a new drive before recognizing this fact - your discs are probably ok and drives are cheap.
Your Memorex is actually probably a rebadged Lite-On. If you feel ambitious you could try flashing with the OEM firmware, though I suggest getting them from rpc1.org. Here's a list of possible OEM drives:

I would check into the warranty on your drive.
BenQ, Lite-On, Pioneer, Plextor($$$), NEC. I own an NEC and BenQ and love them both for different reasons.

For awhile, I thought this would be the victory ending, but no.
I replaced my power supply, keeping it at 500w though.
I already had an ISO via dvdclone2, and started up IMGBURN with the UDF file system.
The dual layer burn worked up to 50%, then failed.
I report.
Hopefully a happier ending soon.

The NEC 3550a and Pioneer 111 both need a hacked firmware to bitset single-layer +Rs. That said, they are probably the two most favored drives out there, along with the Benq 1650/55, which are no longer made. You can usually them at mwave.com or Fry's or Meritline for around $33 or so, and Tigerdirect may have the 3550a for $20 after rebate. They run that special a lot.
