Hi,
I have got a spare HDD caddy and 40GB Maxtor HDD from upgrading my PC and decided to use USBExtreme software to play my games off my 'fat' PS2 which is 2 - 3 years old.
I did not want to mod my PS2 in any way or mess with Swapmagic etc so i thought USBExtreme was perfect (yes i know what HDAdvance is).
Checked out their site and can see:
"Supports All Versions of PS2.
No Modification made to your PS2 Console.
Will not void your PS2 Warranty."
"Connect and power on the USB HDD to your PS2 and boot your PS2 with USBeXtreme, when you see the game selection menu, select the game and press X on the joypad, the game will then run immediately"
Then someone mentioned USBAdvance which i was told is an exact copy of USBExtreme but with diffrent screens? So i got myself a copy and burned the iso to a CD. Copied a game from DVD to the HDD using the USBExtreme Client Software.
All went well, connected HDD via USB to PS2 and put in the USBAdvance CD. After a few seconds i get the message "Please insert a valid PS or PS2 disk"???????
I then checked out some threads concerning USBAdvance here and found all sorts of stuff about "having a modchip with macrovision disabled" or "use swapmagic then the CD will boot" or "edit? the ELF or something" to be able to get the CD to work.
What i am asking if USBAdvance is an exact copy of USBExtreme then if i had bought USBExtreme would i be having the same problem?? Would i have had to buy a modchip or buy swapmagic for it to work?
If that's the case then i think www.hdadvance.com are falsely advertising the product.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance
