does anyone know why there is no longer a free dvd fab & should i buy the dvdfab gold or any dvd??? are the updates free???

As surfgeo mentioned, DVDFAB Decrypter is totally FREE, will always be free. DVDFAB Decrypter 3.0.1.2 is out, get it here http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm

I've been using DVDFAB Decrypter since Fengtao first introduced to the public last June and I've never had any issues ripping whatsoever.

Does dycripter also allow you to burn the DVD? Or is it only a ripper?

dvdfabdecrypter is only a ripper/decrypter. see alkohol's guide to see how to integrate fab into a full system of software that will handle any current encryption technologies.
