Using DVDShrink and Nero succesfully to create disk backup of movies. Everything works as described in the guides. Disk contains the relevant structures and files IFO, BUP and VOB's. I have set the size to custom at ~4360 to try to avoid the edges, as read in another thread. Put the disk into the playback DVD player attached to TV and comes on LED display as reading then stops!! If I put the disk back into the computer (or another computer) DVD RW it operates perfectly?? I have tried different quality DVD's but still get the same issue, starting to run out of blank DVD's and patience....help.
Try Imgburn instead of Nero for you burning after DVD Shrink processes the files. Exactly what brand DVD's are you using? What is the name of the movie? What program(s) are you using to rip your DVD?
That sounds more like a compatability issue when you get: No disc/Dirty disc/Wrong region/or Wrong format errors on a stand alone player-but plays ok on other drives-on all your backups.
We need to know what format: Plus or Dash, that you are using and also the brand name and model # of the DVD-RW drive that burned those discs.
Switching to the opposite format may work. Another option, depending on which model of burn you have,it to booktype. This booktyping is done by using plus format media. It's also called bit-setting. It allows to burner to set the backups as dvd-roms. Not actual dvd-rom,but usually fools picky stand alone players into thinking they are the actual dvd-rom-just like the original/store bought dvds. Not all DVD-RW drives have this ability,so maybe yours may have that capability.
I have a Pioneer DVR-104 RW burner (Yes, bought in to the whole DVD burning to early and paid to much) and operate a stand alone pioneer 355 DVD player. Have tried using Imation DVD-R and TDK -RW disks. I have tried to back up Monsters Inc, Shrek various others and The Game all with the same result using DVD Shrink. However using the process of Ripping, DVD2AVI, TMPGEnc, then Ulead to DVD burn, works but takes at least 6 hours of computer time. But works on stand alone play back. So my issue seems to be compatability of DVD Shrink to disk to stand alone player just wondering if others have experienced this. If the original fails the only time I can watch will be on the computer.

These discs are generally regarded as some low quality stuff. I recommend Verbatims, but if these work for you with the other programs we may be able to get them to work with a different approach.
Here are two popular freeware programs and their respective guides...give one, or both a try and see if they give you joy.
