i have a few films on my hard drive that are .avi & was wondering the best way to burn these to DVD-R. i have vso convertxtodvd, Nero 7 ultra, roxio easy media creator 7, Alcohol 120%, clonedvd2, dvdshrink 3.2, AnyDVD, dvd region & css free, powerdvd 8, & various iso programs. i would prefer to put them onto blank cd-r disks as most of these are 700mb or less. i have a couple that are 702mb & 726mb.. if i have to i would just put as many as possible on a DVD-R.. i was just wondering the best & fastest wy to do this.. i know i would need to convert them to dvd format using vso convertctodvd, but was wondering if there was a faster way to do this... any help is appreciated.. thank you

Putting them on DVD-R is the fastest and best way to do it. Not only is it super-fast (like 60 minutes depending on how many files their are), it's the best quality you're going to get out of the files. If you really want to put them onto CD-R (not recommended), they may not fit. You may have to plit up the files. Plus, it takes forever to organize the files to be played on a DVD player. Another note: the CD-R will most likely not work on a standard DVD player. Best choice: go with ConvertXtoDVD.

The fastest way would be to BUY a DVD player that plays Xvid/DivX files. Which you can get at most stores (Wal-Mart/BestBuy/Circut City) for around $50. Then just burn the AVI files to DVD blank media and watch (in this case there will be no conversion you would just burn a data DVD disc and import the AVI files into the disc and burn).

But if you want to convert the files to DVD then using a program like (Nero Vision Express/WinAVI/ConvertXtoDVD) would be the way to go. It does take a while to convert plus depending on what the files are of would depend on how many converted files you could get on DVD.

If they are movie AVI files then you more then likly will be able to get 2 movies on 1 disc with the lowest quality setting.

If you want to burn them to CD then you would have to use a program like Nero Vision Express and convert the files to a VCD/SVCD. which in that case you would need 1 to 2 CD's for just 1 of the AVI files to be converted and burned.

So your best bet is to BUY a DVD player that plays Xvid/DivX files and burn to DVD. Or use a converter to convert the files to DVD format and burn the converted files to DVD blank media.

ok thanks for that guys.. i'll look into getting a dvd player that supports divx/xvid.. the .avi files were films & were between 698mb & 730mb, but after i've converted them, they turned out to be between 1.18gb & 3gb so i've no option but to put them to DVD-R discs.. i tried using Nero 7 ultra edition to convert & burn an .avi file before & i added a song to be played on the main menu & a picture for the backgrounds of the menu's.. but after about 20 minutes of it doing it's stuff, it said 18 hours to go. i thought it would maybe go down to an hour or two after a little while, but after another 30 minutes it went up to 21 hours remaining.. anyone know why that happened? i think it was Nero recode i used or something, i cant really remember.. any help, advice or suggestions are appreciated.. thank you

It would have been Nero Vision Express. Try using it again and dont multitask and make sure you have any anti-virues or other diognastic type programs turned off while doing it.
