I've got USBAdvance working well with my v7 PS2, but my laser won't read PS1 CDs. I can't get USBAdvance to "do" PS1 games. Any ideas on how to boot PS1 games off an external drive (I don't have a network adapter (thus expansion bay) yet).

You can't, same way as you can't put PsOne games on DVD. They need to be burnt to CD-R.
