lately ripit4me has been shutting down. it says something about an error it encountered. i have tried to go with the latest version and still nothing. can anyone help or is their any other free programs that do the same thing.

Try using the dvdfab decrypter/vobblanker route:

You can use Shrink in place of Recode.

What stage does RipIt4Me give you the error?

it gives me an error as soon as it starts. i tried to get the latest version of fix vts and i have been having problems ever since. i thought fabdecrypter wasn't good for the newer movies like silent hill and some others.

Nope dvdfab decrypter will handle them too. Make sure using the latest one - 3.0.1.2
Rip w/ dvdfab then run thru VobBlanker and open those files in Shrink. You should be set.

ok, i downloaded the latest version of dvdfab but it's different from the last version. does anyone have a step by step on using this program. keep in mind i am a newbie!

The user interface for dvdfab decrypter has changed. Plus now you can do main movie only. This and full disc are the 2 options available in this version.
So you would still just pop the disc in - pick that under 'source' than choose the folder or use the default folder under 'target'.
