I recorded video from my Sony DVR-DVD505 digital camcorder and uploaded the vid files to my computer. In Window Media Player, I can see and hear the video, but when I try to open it in any other program i can't hear the audio. There is an exclamation point in WMP with the following message:

Windows Media Player cannot identify the name of the missing codec. However, its globally unique identifier (GUID) is 1B81BE0A-A0C7-11D3-B984-00C04F2E73C5

It cannot play the file because a required codec was not installed. Upon going for web help the error message is C00D10D1. This took me to the wmplugin.com website. Which gave me the message... The codec you are missing is not available for download from this site. You might be able to find it on another site by searching the Web for "{1B81BE0A-A0C7-11D3-B984-00C04F2E73C5}" (this is the WaveFormat or FourCC identifier of the codec). Upon searching in google on this (GUID) I found nothing.

I'm trying to edit these video clips b/c they're so long, but none of my movie editing software is recognizing any audio and even in WMP it's kind of choppy and interupted.

HELP!

Thanks a ton!

Thanks for the tip... I read on another forum all about codecs and I wish I had the link to the other forum, but it said that you don't need to download a bulk pack .. and when you do it starts screwing with your system.

Any other thoughts? :)

Thanks

of course you can google to find just the codecs you need, nothing wrong with that; however there's absolutely nothing wrong with the k-lite pack that i've ever read about it, i've used it for some time with no problems and haven't read anything bad about it...

edit- before i started using the bulk codec packs i used to spend far too much time finding/messing with individual codecs - what a right royal pain. now i no longer mess about or care about codecs, they just work.
