I own a slimline ps2 and swap magic 3.6. Since I started using SM 2.0 way back, all the games that I backed up would not work properly. They either hang or sound skips and so on. I have gone through 2 burners, still to no avail. I use either TY, Verbatim, or Ritek for my media, and have tried burning at every speed possible. I am wondering if this could be my computer itself causing the data to be screwy? Any ideas would be helpful.
Computer Specs:
Dell 4500
Intel Pentium 4 1.8GHz
128 MB Ram
Liteon SHW-160P6S
What program(s) are you using to burn the discs?
Are you making backups of your own games or images found on the Internet?
How fast are you burning said backups or images?
Lite-On is a good company, so your issue shouldn't lie there. Ritek and Taiyo Yuden are excellent quality media manufacturers (I've no experience with Verbatim) so you're also fine there.
if you are using windows xp, your 128mb of RAM might be the cause. Are you sure it's not 128mb video memory? because of the time of the P4 1.8, 512mb was the standard..
Evosync: I have tried IMGBURN, DVD Decrypter, and Alcohol 120 and cant make it happen. The backups are copies of my own games. In regards to speed, I have tried 2x, 4x and 6x and havent gotten the copies to work properly. They load but sound skips and sometimes game freezes.
ShadowMS: That is what my stats say. The video card that I have is a ATI Rage 128 Pro 32MB. So i have 32mb for video mem.
Thanks for the advice Shadow, but sad to say, the memory upgrade did nothing to solve the problem. I pciked a new 256mb ram upgrade so now my computer is sporting 384mb of ram. I then tried to backup my copy of Valkyrie Profile 2. What keeps happening is that at exactly 51%, the buffer drops to 0 and in response, the device buffer shoots up and down, instead of sticking at 100%.
