I've used DVD Shrink foreverw ith 0problems, until i encountered the css protection. So i was reading some boards and decided to use dvdfab to rip then burn the ts folder normaly with Nero. However, when i rip with dvdfab and burn with Nero, Nero burns fine but when i pit it in my dvd player it just goes to a blank screen. Am i missing a step or doing something wrong?

Hi Knyves
Are you using the dvd-video option in Nero burning rom or express to burn the video_ts folder? If not which option are you using?

What media are you using? Burn speed?
Does the disc playback in the pc?

This problem has happened with me. After using DVDFab, Run the file through VobBlanker, then drop THAT file in to DVDShrink.

There are various threads on this subject. Made a back-up of the movie Hidden and although it burned OK it wouldn't play back on the PC or the standalone player. After running it through VOB and shrinking and burning again, it played perfectly.

Don't ask me why, I simply don't know. Something to do with fake structures on the original disc.

Ok so i ran the files through voblanket. But now dvdshrink says its an invalid data file. So i tried to burn it with Nero burning rom and it told me there were errors. I burned anyways and still the same thing. my dvd player says its a dvd then goes to a blank screen.

Ok - haven't done this one but so far w/ all the different programs like dvdfab, VobBlanker, RipIt4Me, AnyDVD etc anything can be backed up.

When you used Shrink you used the files that VobBlanker created right?

For series dvd's are you doing a full backup?

You can also post the Nero log for this burn if you like. They can be found here:
Nero 6 - program files>ahead>nero>nerohistory
Nero 7 - program files>nero>nero 7>core>nerohistory.
Just be sure to edit out your serial # - usually begin w/ 1A, 1C or 5C.

Might also want to try backing up/burning a different DVD to try and narrow down the problem.

A couple of thoughts. What Nero are you using? because I read somewhere that Nero7 causes problems. - post that log file -

Or try AnyDVD, it's got a 21 day trial. Open shrink and click on source , disc, with any dvd running in background. You can get it here - http://www.slysoft.com/en/download.html

Got the mother in law coming round so can't spend any time on this at the moment.

First, go back to your log postings and edit out all your serial nos. begin 1A - Change the book type to DVD-rom this enables the disc to play in any player.

Ok I just looking at the last log and see where the video compliance failed. So something is up with the files. This would be why it doesn't playback.
When you ran them thru VobBlanker if any said 'skip' pick 'process all'
Make sure you are opening the files VobBlanker created in Shrink.

AnyDVD is great use it myself too. Before you buy it try RipIt4Me - all free and uses Decrypter and Shrink. Follow all the steps in this guide & do a full back up:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/360110

Now for the Nero log - yep like basilj said need to edit the serial # - don't need someone else using it. You might also want to edit out the other logs - just need the last one.
Probably want help the problem you having now.

Nero version: 6.3.0.0

Quite a bit behind on Nero - update to 6.6.0.18 - the last version of 6 to autoburn w/ Shrink:
Package 1
http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Ner....0.18_no_yt.exe

Package 2 (recode & vision)
http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe
Quote:
Recorder: <MATSHITA UJ-810> Version: C104

May need a firmware update for your drive. Check for a later one here & see if the laptop manufacturer is listed.
http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1448

This drive doesn't booktype so you will be unable to do that. Also only +R media can be booktyped and your drive doesn't support burning to +R media.

As binkie7 suggests check your firmware. Go to the link provided and presuming your laptop is a Sony, your device (C104) is listed, click on this and it shows PK-000403.000 Right click on my computer on the desktop>manage>devices, expand dvd drive, right click then click properties, then click details which shows the device and current firmware.

Also, am I barking up the wrong tree. If it's a Spanish DVD is it on region2 and is this causing a conflict?
