Ok, I have already asked this question but I am still a little bit confused about how to go about starting. If I wanna flash my Xbox 360 drive and backing up my games what will I need? Can somebody please list the materials I'll need? Are all of these materials availiable instore, not online?
Im hearing talk about a Pioneer 111D drive? [I think]. Do I need to get me one of these to back up games?
And also. If I brick my drive i nthe process is there a way to "unbrick" it or will I be SOL and have to buy a new one?
- Thanks In Advanced

You most likely have to buy a PCI SATA card online if you don't have one on your mother board. The ones I've seen in the stores aren't Samsung capatible and cost way more than online. If you carefully follow the instructions I wouldn't too much worry about brickage. You can always restore to the original firmware as long as you have a good backup.

No, what I was saying is the Samsung is more picking about what SATA chipset it will work with. You have a Hitachi so it doesn't really matter. The guide tells you all the tools you need. The only other stuff is a CD/DVD spinel case which you should have. That's for making a couple of keys to open the 360 case and a you'll need a couple of wires for the two wire method to get the drive into mode b. The two wire method is the fastest and easiest way to get a Hitachi into mode b. Hitachi's need to be in mode b for windows to see them.

I've learned about the modeb thing just from reading around on the site here. Could someone reccommend a guide or walkthorugh on how to do it? So if I get the PCI SATA card I should have everything cause I already got wire, torx and a CD Spindel?
Is there any specific type of wire I'll need? Also What size torx?

I used speaker wire. Any wire will do. I heard someone even use garbage bag twist ties. You need a T-10 torx. I wrote this mini on Xbox-sceen to the two wire method:
All the black 360 wires need to be attached to the white clip. Keep the metal ends of the wires you attached to the 9 and 0 wires together and turn on the 360. Within 1-2 seconds of the power light in the middle of the ring of light open your fingers so the wires should come apart. The middle light should be flashing and it's now in mode B. You can remove the wires at this point, but I kept them on until I finished the flash. You just have to avoid them touching the metal of the case or each other.
Writen here by ronnie101:
Looking at the power cable to the back of the dvd drive, you see this
"o" means empty, "x" means occupied.
the zero hole is on the top right
o x x x x x <----- zero
o x x x x x
..^
the 9 hole is on the bottom left (not the empty hole)
Lift up the individual tiny plasitc "lock" holding in each of the wires, and pull out the wires. Then place your own wire about 5 inches long back inside the 0 and 9 hole spots with the wire that was previously in the spot...now touch your wires, turn on xbox and immeditaly untouch them
once in modeB the green light in the middle of the ring will flash. Do not turn off your xbox until hack is done, turning it off takes it out of modeB
That's should cover it all.

These people must really be confident in there abilities to flash it without bricking the drive.
I gotta feeling this is going to be alot harder than I had originally assumed.
EDIT - I was looking on a local webiste that sells stuff around Where I live. I noticed someone was selling 2 PCI Lan Cable for $5, Are these what I need?

The only cable you need is the SATA cable and those come with PCI SATA cards if you are buying one. The Hitachi is pretty easy to flash. 2 clicks is all you really need to do and have the files in the right place.

Thats good cause I got a Hitachi drive. It seems like every stores website I look in doesnt have any PCI Sata Cards when I do a search on the site. Does this mean they are only availiable online? I know Im probably being a pain in the ass but, No matter where I search I can't find the file XTRM-HITACHI-7IN1-V2_1OPA-XTREME-HITACHI-7IN1-V2_1.RAR anywheres.

Sorry for double posting but I need a response ASAP as I am making an order as soon as I can get some thing answered.

I just have to clear something up before I take the plunge and do this. This means when I try to flash the firmware if by some chance screw it up then I will be able to reflash it with the original firmware and it will be good as new again, right?
I've chosen to do the crossed wire method cause it counds like the easiest/cheapest to do.
Also. I was wondering, Does Newegg ship to Canada? If not, I'm thinking of getting it here off of eBay.ca
I was planning on getting a Pioneer 111D burner because I have read alot of good things about this drive on Afterdawn.
Where did you guys get the SATA Card for your PC's? I was looking on newegg but I don't think they ship to Canada. Could someone fill me in on what is the exact name of the SATA card I'll need to flash my Hitachi drive so that I'll be able to search for it on eBay.ca
Big Thanks To Jamaal10!

I got my SATA card from Newegg. And yes it's pretty easy to restore as long as you have a good back up of you original firmware.

How do I know which Sata Cards will do the trick? I think I might have to buy these instore cause I can't find anywheres that has them. What should I look for when I buy them, anything special?
Would this burner do the trick even though it isnt a Pioneer 111D?
http://www.thesourcecc.com/estore/Produc...product=2512653
Would something linke this work instead of a Sata Card?
http://www.thesourcecc.com/estore/Produc...product=2611256
The reason I asked is because these things are both availiab;e down the street from here instore. so I dont gotta find a way to get my hands on a credit card.
- Thanks Again for All the Help

Oh no, any DVD burner won't work. It has to be able to booktype to DVD-ROM and they all don't do that. Pioneer seems best. Lite-on has been solid myself and others. NEC has been about 50/50.
