Well I have a problem. I use Nero 7. and when i try to burn .avi files of anime. the subtitles are somewhat cutoff and they dont fit the screen. But other than that it plays perfectly on the tv could any of you guys tell me how to fix the subtitles so it could actually fit on the tv screen

You can maybe try a standalone software encoder (like TMPGEnc) + an authoring program (Like TMPGEnc DVD Author or DVDLab Pro).

I do not mess with subtitles much, so I can't be of much help in this area.
