Hi Gang: Has anyone gotten the movie "Stay Alive" to backup? I have used "DVD Decrypter", "DVDFab" and the latest "DVDFab" and keep getting "DVD Shrink has to close etc.". Is there an encryption on this movie that is new or different? One on try I get a message stating that a "VOB" file could not be run? Never saw that one before.
Any suggestions? Thanks Ronnies

It could be that you have a bad disc. Have you tried RipIt4Me? This freeware works on stubborn movies. Just follow the guide in my sig and give it a try. As I said before, it's free.

Thank you "Dialysis 1" and "Pazzini" for your kind and informative reply. "VoBlanker" seems to be a mite complicated for me. I would probably screw things up more than help my situation. Unless there is a clearer path than described on the "VoBlanker' readout - doesn't look too viable for me? I did download "Ripit4me" - tried it yet.
I've got a new dilemma, On the "Encode" portion of the capture, I'm getting times of 3hrs plus for execution time where it used to be - say 28 min.? what is the problem?
Thanks again ronnies

Hello Dialyses 1 You mentioned that my "DMA" may have switched to "PIO"? You may have hit on something. I have two (2) DVD burners.
I followed the instructions for searching if I have settings for "DMD" or "PIO". The following is the results:
in the "Secondary IDE Channel Properties" section I have =
"Device "O"
Transfer Mode - DMA, if possible
Current Mode - Pio Mode
"Device "1" -
Transfer Mode - DMA, if possible
Current Mode - Ultra DMA Mode 2
What is your take on these setting? Should any be changed, if so HOW?
I presume the 2 "Devices" are related to each of the DVD Burners but I don't know which is "O" or "1"?
This is over my reasoning, please advise... Thanks Ronnies

Yes, it is true that "Stay Alive" has some of the newest protections. However, it simply is just another piece of cake. As usual, "DVDFAB Decrypter + VobBlanker + DVD Shrink + ImgBurn" (an all FREE tools) can handle this flawlessly.
For more info on DVDFAB + VobBlanker + DVD Shrink + ImgBurn, go here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/334154
or RipIt4Me guide by my buddy arniebear, here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/360110
Just take some of your times and read the guides slowly, follow every steps and you'll be happy in the end. Once you're an advanced user on both guides (DVDFAB + VobBlanker and RipIt4Me "DVD Decrypter + FixVTS"), any new released movies/dvds is as "easy as sippin' on a Corona." Good luck and happy burning.
